But maybe there will be less complaints though, i will give it a try next time i work on Ark Nova

No, it can't happen accidentally, when you have to hit a button for it. You might play the animal accidentally, but you can't speak of an accident, if you clicked a button after that. Actually I think that is exactly the reason for that button: Have some extra time to reconsider your decision. Cool thing, if you could manage to do that!

Thanks a lot btw: I love the design and your implementation :)
Oh i missed the part about the button, i thought you wanted it to be automatic when you get an extra action

I will say that since this post went up and I responded, I dropped fast games for normal ones and haven't had a problem. Other than I get annoyed sometimes with slow prime but w/e they still play faster than my husband, lol. Anyway, admittedly I haven't gotten kicked but once on fast games, but I haven't gone over time at all on normal, even in the game where I had an amazing two eagles AND a sun bear the last turn. Though that one was tight, and if it had been at silver Lake it would have been a problem.

Yesterday something similar happened to me.
I got kicked out while executing my turn. I really got confused bbecause red font was warning me that I only have 20 sec left to play. One second later the 20 sec timer jumped to 2 secs and then I got kicked out.
Since this was my first time in about 30 games I faced anything like this (maybe was playing slower than usual) could this be an issue of my internet connection? The timper jumping from 20 secs to 2 secs?

Yeah, I witnessed something comparable, too: The timer was red at -10sec, but already my friend got kicked. That can't be right.

Lag may have been an issue?

But yes, the first (and thankfully only) time I got the 20s notice, I re read it like three times bc I was confused, then wound up panic clicking in a rush. I think if it happened again I'd be better able to power thru, but I suspect the first time people are just startled someone is kicking an active player. Anyway, normal time fixed that problem, I just band my head against the wall when people use their full time (As is their right) bc I'm impatient lol.

Play sequences requiring extended time can happen throughout the game, so just focusing on the last round isn't ideal. I'd like to see a small bank of time extensions (maybe 3-5 units) which would be triggered automatically by playing certain game actions (additional-action cards, 2x tokens, etc). This requires some player and turn state to manage undo interaction:
- bankAvailable: players available bank (running, per player)
- bankInPlay: bank needed by currently played actions (this turn)
- bankGranted: bank time already granted (this turn)
On action needing bank: add to bankInPlay, try extend bankGranted if less than bankAvailable, if extended add time
On undo of action needing bank: subtract from bankInPlay
On confirm/commit (cannot be undone): bankAvailable += bankInPlay - bankGranted (yes, this can be negative with undo)

This allows honest play to extend time for complex play sequences. Abuse by play-then-undo results in net loss of banked time, so is limited in scope and potentially penalized by lack of bank availability when card is finally played.

There are details to iron out:
- which cards/actions have bank interactions
- how much time is granted (+50% of round time?)
- is time granted immediately or only as needed

THIS IS F... JOKE!

I played on fast, and my opponent several times goes over time limit. I was ok. But then I played animal with WAZA, and a lot of appeal bonuses and phisically couldnt move faster and went over time. And this bastard expelled me!!!

I noticed that this expelled culture goes mostley from chinese players with bad karma. So they are not playing (he had low rating) but seek revenge and try to expel others with any moments they can.

WHAT CAN WE DO, TO DEAL WITH THIS?

arrgh. I'm very angry about that. It's absolutely cheating and using rules against their sense.

Three things you can do.

1) Don't play against people with bad karma and lots of time penalties.
2) Don't play Ark Nova on real time fast speed.
3) Boot them first.

I wouldn't call this "cheating," though. You could definitely make an argument that it is very unethical, though.

Actually, a turn timer with a time bank probably would work. 4 min per turn (or whatever is standard) + a 5 min bank you get after turn 10 or something.

So if they quit early, you don't have to wait a while 10 min to play a new game. But gives some flexibility to the later turns.

I really sympathize with this post as I am a new player...14 games...and I was winning a game the other night, experiencing that delicious tension that this game always brings and I was sensing victory in the closing few moves of the game, went a little long and got kicked off. I sent the other player an unkind message, while keeping within community standards of course. They have a 21% reputation rating btw...mine is 93%. I told them it was no wonder they have such a bad reputation rating...Total hypocrite...

I've had a few people go over time against me and I never boot them off. I think it violates the spirit of the game. If someone was gone for 5 minutes I would boot them, but i was literally 5 seconds over and got booted. I WAS VERY MAD!
