Help with Orion Duel Translation

Post by Tiberaniki »

Im currently translating Orion Duel and I've come across a phrase that I can't translate its meaning in Spanish.

The phrase is:

They weren't able to place blue hexes on [red]*these galaxies...*[/red] out of the blue.

I know that the translation could be: "De la nada" or "Inesperadamente" but the author makes a joke with the word "Blue", so it creates a problem in translating it correctly.

Any Spanish speakers who can think of somehing?

Translating „out of the blue“ / Re: Help with Orion Duel Translation

Post by Thomas »

I don‘t know Spanish at all. But translating „out of the blue“ and keeping the color „blue“ (as a reference to the blue hexes) is difficult not only when translating to Spanish, but to most other languages. Therefor I searched for alternative translations on the internet. I found the phrase „fuera del azul“, but as I don’t know Spanish at all, I’m not sure if it is what you are looking for.

By the way: In German language, the phrase „out of the blue“ can be translated to „aus heiterem Himmel“, but here we loose the joke/reference to the blue color, too. An alternative translation could be „aus dem Blauen heraus“, which keeps the color and the meaning, but this phrase is not so common.
