Translations vanish and translators are not rewarded for their work

This has already happened to me several times: I translate or correct a text, and some days later, my translations have vanished (like just now for the news on Heat). I am not talking about my texts being overwritten! They are no longer in the translation history. All my careful work was for nothing

I think this happens when a new text is included to a series. Probably here it was "Speed." and "I am speed." As this is a text from the very beginning, all later texts appear as first translations. I guess by the inserted text they were renumbered and lost their former translations. This also happens very often in tutorials.

I request BGA to fix this bug immediately and restore the translations (not only for Heat, but as a genaral bug fix). You can vote for it here: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=99816

Not a bug, but a feature.
When a text is modified in the source (in this case, the original news article), the new version replaces the old version regardless of the similarity.
The old text data still remains hidden and will return when the text is reverted to the old version (in the source, again) though.

text 1: translated
text 2: translated
text 3: translated
text 4: translated
text 5: translated

Now a text 1a is added after text 1, and we get this:

text 5: new

That's how it looks to me. How comes that text 2 - text 5 are considered as new texts (i.e. they don't have any translation history) and our translations have vanished?

Are you saying I have to formulate the exact same translation again without finding it in the history? Why isn't the old version shown in the translation history as usual so I can restore it myself?

If so, that's a bug indeed. text 2 - 5 should haven't been removed.
However, I have never encountered that BGA bug except in Memoir '44 which has been already known to BGA admins.

How likely is it that all later texts have been changed slightly? And if so, this should be the same for each language. This looks really strange to me! I can hardly believe this is language dependend, but maybe it is? My translation was into German.

When an original text disappears, sometimes it's because it's just been removed from the interface, sometimes it's because it's wrong.
BGA can't know if a new text is a replacement or a new text. It can't link the new text with the old one, and so it can't associate it with the existing translations.
This is not language specific. When a new text is added (even if it's just to fix a typo), BGA simply ignores the past and considers it as a new independent text that needs to be translated.

not always, there has definitely been cases where a text has been updated, but the old translations are still in effect.

If I understood correctly, an English suggestion approved from the translation center will not trigger the retranslation (so keeping the translation history if it was already translated), whereas changes in the code (or in the original tutorial by the tutorial maker for tutorials) will affect translation (any string not exactly the same as before is considered new).

There I can see texts like:

I am pretty sure that those texts are not "new" (as they are very basic to the game), but have been the same before the latest update of the game. So why are they diplayed as new texts (without history)? Why did the former translation got lost? This might be very close to the bug I am referring to.

Some of the original texts were different due to English -> English translations.
For example, 'Yahtzee' in the previous version was actually 'Yatzy' in the source code which has been changed into 'Yahtzee' by English translation.
Then, 'Yatzy' has been reverted back and 'Yahtzee' has been added as a separate text in the new version which requires a new translation.
