How can the new design be so counter-intuitive?

Post by Kurorac »

I really don't know what they were thinking. The old design was perfect. You could create a table with all preferences in one game while waiting for players in another (all turn based).
Now I'm waiting for one invited player to join the table, but I can't create another table with others (the same game).
And you had every game you liked on one page and could search for players simultaniously. Now I have to click on every game, go back to the list, go down the list and click on the next game.
What use are the lists you can make if you still have to click every single game if you want to create a table in more than one game. And you can't see your elo without clicking on every single game
Also the design often doesn't fit on mobile or the bug where you want to invite a player and the window with the players opens and closes until you refresh the page.

I don't know, it's so much work to create a few tables ever since the new design

I agree. The "Play Now" drop down system is much more efficient for experienced players, and I hope it never leaves.

I have been on the site long enough to remember half a dozen changes to the interface. Every time players jump on to the forum to insist the previous version was the best interface ever and the new one the worst interface ever. The logical inconsistency in that never seems to occur to people and I now file this sort of post in the same category I use for complaints about random number generation.

Did you have a response about not being able to host all the games you liked at once? Because that was a specific objection made.

I have been on this site as long as you. All the previous changes were quite tame compared to this. The new menu is just horrible. I am willing to quit the site for good if the old lobby is completely removed.

If you've been on the site that long, you would definitely be aware the specific, detailed limitations and other issues people have repeatedly mentioned about the new one are:

1. Factual
2. Politely explained in multiple threads and posts
3. Accompanied with suggestions or alternatives

This is definitely not the typical situation of a new interface being difficult to grasp at first. This is a situation of a new interface actually removing features, adding limitations, being less accessible, and producing undesired behavior. In addition, it makes things more difficult for experienced players, who are the core of the website and have been for years.

Well said. It certainly seems that way to me too.

Do you know what I had to do to create a second table while waiting for one player to join the first one?
I had to: change to desktop mode, click on look for other tables searching for players, no tables there. There was a button to create another table there. I clicked on it and could create another table, BUT now I wanted to play with 5 instead of 6 players.
After changing that I was sent back to the original table with 6 players. So I had to repeat the steps above and now I could create a table with 5 players.

That's way too much work to create a table and on mobile that is impossible to do.

So this has nothing to do with me not liking the new interface, this is something that's not working!

Why not just use the old lobby?

I think the fear is that the old lobby will be deleted.
