Opinion on no robber until 3 points in ranked?

I was just in a ranked game where someone suggested no placing the robber on someone until they had 3 points. I wasn’t in the mood to chat and also that is more of a friendly play than something to do in ranked imo so I just didn’t respond. This player then runs his clock down to 5 seconds while spamming the chat trying to get me to agree to it and also asking to abandon the game if I didn’t want to. Then the whole game that same player only blocked me with the robber (even whilst I had only 2 points) and yet I actually didn’t get a chance to even use the robber until the other player had 3 points and I stole from him anyways. He was just very petty and trying to provoke me in the chat over it. Of course I red thumbed him but what do others think of not using the robber until 3 points in a ranked game?

Its a shame....but when i play whit other that have 7 and dont robb me i dont do it....for a time because i need rob sometimes to winbut when i have to do it i always say sorry the other players never get mad always understand and continue playing.....but always gonna be players that get mad just to robb him and the classic comment "why me"

Perhaps the player was upset because he asked a question and got no answer? Whatever the reason, his behavior was unacceptable and deserves a red thumb.

I would probably have answered "No, let's play normally." If the other player was as toxic as you describe this would probably not have helped either...

It honestly took me a while to even notice the little chat icon had the red flag that there was a comment until I started wondering why he wasn’t playing. At that point he was already spamming the chat and I just felt like if I even replied “no” then just a comment would be opening a can of worms for him to start being more annoying and I didn’t have the energy to try to argue.

It is part of game.. i already had games where first player didn’t do it and to be friendly I did it also not but third player did it and rob me.. then I think why I was friendly..

There are also many players that keep rob you because you started robbing and forget that other player got better places or more luck in goods..

There will be no good solution.. friendly robber is good for starting players.. others must just accept it… because maybe if you wait until a player get 3 points.. maybe get a lot of advance already by extra spot

I suppose I could understand not doing it on the first round so that every player gets a chance to take advantage of the starting resources they got (and may have chosen their 2nd spot with them in mind). But, honestly, I really can't get with someone freaking out if they propose it and it's not adopted.

I know it’s a house rule and so can’t get implemented, but I think a better option is “re-roll 7s (during first round or until all players have 3 vp)”. Otherwise, the person rolling a seven gets penalized by not getting a resource when they otherwise would have (16.7% probability).

We have a fun house rule. When you put the robber on the desert you get to pick up any resource you want.

ALL players 3? I had games with that bad luck that i ended with 2 or 3 at end maybe

I like that
