So you can queue for multiple different games at one time. It can't be done all from one screen just by clicking "Play Now!" on a few different games, so it's more cumbersome. But because it is possible, that counts as being proven wrong and I can no longer complain about the single-game lobby.Meeplelowda wrote: ↑02 October 2023, 21:52 The issue is that queuing for multiple games was either removed or obfuscated by the new UI. I would love to be proven wrong and if so I'll never post another complaint about the single-game lobby.
How can the new design be so counter-intuitive?

You can queue for different tables of the same game but you cannot create more then one game table which I find a step backwards.Meeplelowda wrote: ↑02 October 2023, 23:26So you can queue for multiple different games at one time. Also when you join a table it jumps to a different place in the list which makes it hard to keep track of if you're trying to join multiple tables.
As for not having anything to complain about can I help?
- It's hard to see everyone at the table,
- you can't chat,
- you can't view their game experience/ranking nor their karma
- you can't amend game details if someone is at the table, and
- if you try to cancel matchmaking it boots everyone from the table instead of keeping them in the table while you tweak things
- If you're trying to invite people they seem to be able to join before you've finished setting the options so if you haven't got everything set you're stuck as above.
- Similarly for a rematch if you want to change variant or expansion you can lose the players when trying to tweak it.
- show karma rating either as % or coloured blob next to player name,
- add a "discuss" button next to join/view/quit so you can launch chat without going into the table page.
- allow filtering by variant so you don't see all the variants under each game if you're not interested in them

Am I the only one that has never used the old lobby? I've always went with the new one and never had any problems with having too few options to choose from. But I do understand that more seasoned BGA players do need the old lobby for the additional options and the fact that they're used to it.
But given that Asmodee is said to be the EA of board games, it wouldn't surprise me if they axed the old one completely.

have you really never wanted to queue for more than one game at a time?Ondrashek06 wrote: ↑06 October 2023, 15:26 Am I the only one that has never used the old lobby? You can do this. You just can't do it as easily as the old lobby.KenFin1 wrote: ↑06 October 2023, 17:09have you really never wanted to queue for more than one game at a time?Ondrashek06 wrote: ↑06 October 2023, 15:26 Am I the only one that has never used the old lobby? You basically join one queue. Then use the BGA omnibar search to find the next game you want. Join that one. Rinse. Repeat.
However, I haven't tried queuing for different configurations of the same game at the same time.

But does that method let you see all those different game lobbies / table summaries simultaneously?

I never checked the manual lobby until recently, but found it really cumbersome. If in manual mode, you have to click three times and open a new page in order to start a game. In automatic mode, leaving the page or changing between arena and non-arena stops the search.Meeplelowda wrote: ↑06 October 2023, 21:04You can do this. On the new game page you just click all games you'd like to queue for. Way easier than the old lobby, because you can easily switch between arena and normal game for each game. If I need more options, or to check what options are available, I go to the specific game page. One thing, I wish that it displayed more info in the drop-down list, more than only stating "custom options" and arena.
Still, I like the old table page, it was the first time I saw all available players for a game!

You can't do this all on the same page. The new lobby is a single-game lobby, so you would have to switch to a different game page to queue for a different game. Are you sure you're talking about the same thing everyone else is?Sjarmtrollet wrote: ↑06 October 2023, 23:57On the new game page you just click all games you'd like to queue for.

I suppose I'm confused about what things are named and y'all don't seem to know how the lists work. What I would compare the lobby to is the specific lists, for instance, the favorites: https://boardgamearena.com/gamelist?menu=favorite. The game list, this one https://boardgamearena.com/gamelist, I agree, is completely useless for starting games.Meeplelowda wrote: ↑07 October 2023, 00:07You can't do this all on the same page. Well, there is no official name for things, which is why we sometimes talk past each other with different people using conflicting terms for the same thing, and the same term for different things.
Aha! This is not what was being talked about above as the "new lobby," but I agree it is the best alternative to the old lobby (i.e., the one reached by clicking the "Play Now" button). The complaints about the "new lobby" above are mostly about the limitations of the single-game lobby. Perhaps many of those complaints would go away if games were started from the lists accessed from "Games" instead of "Play Now."Sjarmtrollet wrote: ↑07 October 2023, 10:05 What I would compare the lobby to is the specific lists, for instance, the favorites: https://boardgamearena.com/gamelist?menu=favorite.
