You can always switch to turn-based mode.
Or even, just start the game in turn-based mode. You can always play in real-time anyway.

There are large and active digital TI4 communities for both real time and turn based, it'll be just fine.

There are already longer and more complex games than this on BGA, so there is no reason to think it should be an issue.

Which game is longer than TI4 on BGA ?
I don't know all available games, but I though the longer is 2 or 3 hours ... that is pretty low compared to TI4 which is 8 to 12 hours
