Shepherd's Crook question

Post by Willi B »

Above was the "after" playing a fence action. I don't know if the Shepherd's Crook requires NO fences inside the area (because that will be 2 pastures of size 2) or if the fact that I had all stables occupied before fencing began is the reason behind not getting sheep. Anyone know? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, it only works for single pastures of 4 or more spaces. You can subdivide it latter with another fencing action though.

Yeah, I did the same thing. I played Shepherd's Crook, and then spent 10 wood building a 4 space pasture divided into two pastures, and was surprised when I didn't get my sheep. It was a close game, and I had a major Homer Simpson "Doh!" moment. The card text doesn't make this rule clear, but the compendium does.

Reading the compendium (<i>after</i> not getting my sheep) I learned that you will get 4 sheep, though, if you build two 4-space pastures in one move, which I've never seen done. Now I would like to try that!

You can also fence the two 4-space pastures in two separate moves.
