Seasons Crystal orb --> replace

Post by Sawyer Einherjar »

While playing seasons i played out a crystal orb.

When activating it you get the options in the command line (above the board, however you call it)
you can choose to either: - Look at the first card of the drawdeck or - Replace the first card of the draw deck. So far so good.

However, When you pick look at the first card you get new options:
- Summon this card for 4 energies
- Replace

Replace is bold becuase this word indicates that you'd throw it away or something. However, the actual functionality of hitting "replace" is that the card is put back on top of the draw deck. So the next time you look at the top card again it will be the same! This is rather unclear from using the word replace ;)

As i'm not sure this is the only instance the string "Replace" is used for i don't want to change it yet. If it has multiple usages might be better to make a new string then.

Replace is used in multiple other strings not sure if its used right within these strings. I'll have to pay attention on other plays.

If it could be said whether Replace has multiple uses or then i can change it or you can.
i guess should be something like: "put the card back on top of the deck" / "place the card back" / "Leave the card on top of the draw deck" (yeah drawback the line gets bit longer than haveing a single word :))

Thanks for the attention,
Sawyer
PS: if this had already be noticed anywhere i'm sorry, to lazy to search it up today. Don't think i've seen it on Seasons bug report though.

Edit: after replaying the game -> if you "replace" the card it says -> ${card_name}: ${player_name} replaces the card on the top of the deck in the player log. Again not sure if this has multiple use. But it should say that the player puts the card back on top.

Hello Sawyer,

That's correct! This comes from an initial mistranslation on our part, as in French "replace" means "put back where it was", whereas in English it means "substitute with something else".
So the current wording is indeed wrong.

I checked in the code and "replace" is always used in that sense (at least the mistake was consistent), so you can change all the English strings containing "replace" in the translation for a better wording without creating inconsistencies.

Thanks!

Okay,

Replace is a french word ofc! hadn't even realized xD. But well it is true that in english you also use Replace as in put it back. Just don't know if its really commonly used and whether when used in such a context it would optimally require some extra words. --> Replace the card on top of the draw pile. That still leaves some interpretation. Whereas place the card back on top of the draw pile would not. But well its so long. Cannot think of anything short for it. :S MB some native english speaker can enlight us!

For now i've only eddited Dutch strings.

But yeah i don't think all strings are wrong as sometimes you actually replace the top card (first option from crystal orb: look at the top card and play it or replace the top card)
I'll do some trial and error :)

The other strings mostly refer to Arcane Telescope. So they are indeed incorrect as well :D. I think i changed all Dutch parts now. Also addited the string in English of "replace" into something longer but with greater clarity, no room for misinterpretation.

Greets and thanks for quick response,
Sawyer
