What happens if players draw on points?

Post by Mr_yoso »

I am currently playing a round robin tournament and it seems likely some people will draw on the number of victories. If 2 players tie for first on the number of games won, how does bga determine the tournament winner?

BGA uses cumulative score differential as a tiebreaker between players with the same number of tournament points in round robins. Go to the tournament page, scroll down to the standings, and click the circled plus ("+") sign.

You can find lots of discussion of this on the forums. Many people have proposed that the tiebreaker should be the winner of the game played between the tied players, but then what if there is a three-way tie? Another issue with the cumulative score differential as tiebreaker is this: if you're losing a game by a lot, there's a big incentive to concede, because then the deemed score for that game will be 1 to 0; that could help you a lot in the tiebreaker and hurt your opponent. This was discussed recently in the following thread: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=154378

Do you know what happens if that score difference is also a tie? Had that happen recently in a tourney, and we have no idea how it picked a winner. Coin flip?

Rankings where a player is booted are done on seniority of account, which I spent a while thinking was random (cause it sure looks that way). So it could be that, but I don't know for sure - perhaps someone else knows.
