WW18 - Phase 1

Post by Winn81 »

Hi all,

Sign ups have concluded, we have 24 participants. The format was modified slightly to work for the smaller number of players.

Phase 1 - There are 6 groups, below, as determined by current ELO. Play one match against each member of your group. Each match 4 point system as described on the signups forum. Winner of each group advances, as well as top two second place finishers. You must complete all matches by December 31st.

The scenario is Biak Airfields Trap, scenario ID 17218.

Edit: It appears the days of wonder database is having issues. You can use the .m44 file here, which I tested and it works: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mET0SO ... sp=sharing

Standings are here.

Awesome! Thanks Winn.

Is there a MM44 file for this, or is this map reliably on list of Front scenarios?

deepnet,
It's listed, go to From the front and Days of Wonders database, scenario ID 17218. The only thing that might be questionable is the flame thrower tank, which works correctly on this scenario.

Group 6

mrmanley31 vs Misterfunny99

Game 1:
mrmanley31(allies) 6 mdls, 28 figs vs Misterfunny99(axis) 7 mdls, 27 figs

Game 2:
mrmanley31(axis) 7 mdls, 30 figs vs Misterfunny99 (allies) 4 mdls, 19 figs

Result:
mrmanley31 vs Misterfunny99 1-1 games, 13-11 mdls, 58-46 figs, 3-1 points

A tense game match against a quality opponent is always a good time, win or lose. I was on the fortunate side of this one, rolling 138 dice to Misterfunny's 116, which definitely helped my cause. Thanks for a great game Misterfunny, and good luck in your other matches!

Group 2

deepnet vs jeroenh

Game 1:
deepnet (axis) 7 (26 figs) - jeroenh (allies) 6 (28 figs)

Game 2:
deepnet (allies) 3 (19 figs) - jeroenh (axis) 7 (23 figs)

Total result:
deepnet 10 (45) -> 1 point
jeroenh 13 (53) -> 3 points

The first game was tense with a slight advantage for deepnet, but could have been decided by the right cards. Unfortunately TFH was no help to me, as out of 6 dice I only had 1 usable roll. The second game I definitely had the right cards and started off playing three all-cards, later a firefight. I was lucky enough to get another TFH, but still resulted in only 1 roll. Deepnet defended bravely, but my cards helped the Japanese to successfully defend the caves.

Group 2

Artimon vs Jeronimon

Game 1:
Artimon (allies) 3 (18 figs) - Jeronimon (axis) 7 (28 figs)

Game 2:
Artimon (axis) 5 (26 figs) - Jeronimon (allies) 7 (27 figs)

Total result:
Artimon 8 (44) -> 0 point
Jeronimon 14 (55) -> 4 points

Game1
Some repositioning and then a full attack on the right flank by my Japanese. Had some lucky escapes with units left on one figure. Enough cards and dice to sustain the attack and destroy anything extra that Artimon brought to that flank.

Game 2
Again I attacked on the right flank (and a bit in the middle. Good cards and stellar dice helped me out in my endeavors.

See you at the Belgian Open this weekend! :)

Game 1:
mrmanley31(axis) 6 mdls, 31 figs vs ChiefWhiteHalfoat(allies) 7 mdls, 31 figs

Game 2:
mrmanley31(allies) 7 mdls, 26 figs vs ChiefWhiteHalfoat(axis) 1 mdl, 13 figs

Result: mrmanley31 vs ChiefWhiteHalfoat 1-1 games, 13-8 mdls, 57-44 figs

A rather strange match with the Allies winning both games. In game 1, I was on pace to win handily...probably 7-3 or 7-4 worst case scenario. However, I managed to lose the game thanks to some very good playing and some fortunate turns for ChiefWhiteHalfoat.
In game 2, it had to be the most lopsided game I've ever seen on this scenario. I was able to gain 2 medal objectives, thanks to eliminating Japanese armor and artillery.
Good luck in your next matches and thanks for the games!
