"Sending Move To Server"

Post by JoysJoy »

For many many weeks now, the site has been really slow. It was also going done daily for awhile (that was another thread) and BGA said it was an issue with one of the servers and they did fix something so that does not happen so much anymore.

But this frozen 30+ seconds for every turn based game has never ended and is getting to be a great frustration. I am ignorant to how servers and internet services work. Can I change what server BGA has me on? Anyone else have constant lag like this with viturally every game you play, every day, since ASMODEE took over? This was not a histroic issue. It used to happen occasionally but now E a c h a n d e v e r y d a y this happens.

Maybe i just need to find new ways to spend my time that don't frustrate me. It drags the rest of my day down to be constantly irriated by frozen screens and this used to be stress busing place

We spent a lot of time investigating and finally identified something wrong about one very popular game that has slowed down most game servers for a few weeks.
The new server we added improved the situation a bit, but we were still facing issues during peak hours, leading to a loooong response sometimes.

What is good is that the issue was finally fixed just yesterday and you should not face such a long frustrating response time anymore ...
... or at least I hope so

Thank you for working on fixing this.

It is 5:20pm Pacific Time and the slow downs have started again, but they were better this morning.

What is "peak time" for BGA in the Pacific Time Zone?

Yesterday for about 5 minutes it returned a server error while I was playing a game of saboteur. None of us could talk in any chat. So might not have been fully fixed?

Seems to still be problem still, very hard to play when you have to continually refresh your browser and coach people with how to do it.

This is still a major problem. There is lag every evening. Will it ever be fixed or is this the level of performance we pay for?

I haven't seen this happen whatsoever, in weeks. I make moves at all hours of the day. I also notice no one else reported it in the last month in this thread.

Can you please give the precise timestamp the next time you see a move fail to submit, after refreshing and trying again? This might help narrow down when a problem is occurring.

Perhaps my expectations are skewed. It's very occasional that a move fails to submit, but I will note it. What is very common is the lag between clicking and the game 'receiving' the move. If this lag is expected behaviour so be it. It just feels a bit 2005 now.

I have recently noticed some delay when submitting a move, some of the time.

I do not usually see the "Sending move to server" lag unless I try to send a move before the page fully loads, which doesn't surprise me.

I'm still getting "sending move to server" delays and have been for months. I don't see any improvement. What's up? Just accept it as is I guess. :( :( :(
