I've noticed that whenever I send certain words to my opponents that I get a warning suggesting that what I have said is offensive. Things like "* cards". I'm sure that there is a puritan minority that find words like this offensive, but for most of us these are part of day to day vocabulary.

I don't understand why BGA has an opinion on this, but at the very least could you please give us the option to disable the patronising warnings and simply blur out the words for the minority that will find these words offensive. I don't enjoy the feeling that being in a board game is the same as in some fundamentalist Christian church, and at the very least I believe I should have the option to disable such an environment.

You don't need to be a Christian to be polite and respectful of other users.

BGA is an international environment full of people with all sorts of languages, cultures, and backgrounds. It costs you nothing to think of other players and be polite.

Precisely my point, BGA is an international environment full of all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds, the majority of which don't have scruples about certain words. There is nothing impolite about saying "I * up" or "I have * cards". It's an expression of frustration that comes naturally.

It costs you nothing to understand that most other people would like the freedom to use the language of their daily life and respect that.

I'm not even asking for that, I'm asking that the people with the scruples can have the words they find offensive to be blurred in some way, and the rest of us can carry on talking the way we normally do without the morality police flagging is up every time.

2) I swear like a sailor in my normal life, yet somehow manage the self control not to do it on BGA. Think of it as going to a friend's place that has respectfully asked you to restrain yourself.

Yep, I got spanked. By the letter of the rules that I just read I suppose I deserve it, even though I was using it as an example in the same way the rules do.

I, and as far as I know, nobody I have met considers the language I used as inappropriate or offensive, but it is what it is.

Seeing as there aren't any other options for playing the games I enjoy online I guess I'll have to go along with abiding by these antiquated language standards.
