Flipping building placement

Post by Enoviox »

Hi!

I was in a game where I was unable to place my building the way I wanted due to only having rotation as an option, and not flipping the building.

I was placing the Rhesus Monkey Park, and I wanted to orient it so that the short part was facing down and right. However, with only rotation as an option, I could only place it so that the short part was up and right, or the short part was down and left.

Is there a way to flip tiles?

Thanks!

There is no way because you are not allowed to do that.

In real life the tiles do not even have a back side, to make it very clear you cannot flip them.

How can they not have a back side? Are they Möbius strips? I guess you mean the backside is has a different picture/pattern that indicates you cannot use it that way.

I consider this a flaw in the game design.

In the actual game all the normal buildings are symmetrical so flipping them is not different than rotating (1,2,3,4,5,aviary and reptile house).
Of course flipping for these buildings is not allowed because flipping has a gameplay effect, ie they are used or not.

The special buildings can not house animals though so they COULD easily have made them double sided and flippable. Most of these buildings like aquarium etc. are NON-SYMMETRICAL. So flipping is different than rotating and there are placements you can't do which you could have done with flipping.

The things in the physical game had to be double printed anyways so they should have just made the special buildings double printed and flippable.
Now it's just one of those confusing things in the game where you can't flip and your building won't fit because you didn't take the rotation into account and you expected to have the mirrored version.

Big omission in the design for both the physical and digital game (it has screwed me up in both cases despite knowing about it).

Have you considered that it's most likely intentional?

It is intentional, not sure about the point of criticizing that among other choices that were made by game designer during the game creation.
