I've been getting a lot of those messages recently, as well as "Unknown network error (502)". Is everything happy in BGA servers?

Re: "Sending Move To Server"
Same. I'm also regularly getting kicked out of queued Arena matches, forcing me to requeue.
Re: "Sending Move To Server"
It really is very poor from a paid for site. Waits of up to 10 seconds today and Unknown network error 502
Re: "Sending Move To Server"
All new low today. Got expelled from a game because of repeated Unknown Network Errors.
Asking me if I am connected to the internet, when the chat is still operating.
This is very poor.

Re: "Sending Move To Server"
Website functionality has gone downhill significantly for me in the last year, which is doubly lame when considering the price increase this year.
Re: "Sending Move To Server"
Dear Boardgamearena Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep frustration and disappointment regarding the current state of the games on this platform. Frankly, the experience has become virtually unplayable, and it's reaching a point where it's seriously impacting my enjoyment and overall satisfaction.
The fact that world championships are hosted on this website makes the ongoing server issues all the more baffling. It's essential to invest in robust server capacity or, if necessary, assemble a capable team to address and resolve these persistent problems. The decline in performance since Asmodee's acquisition is alarming and has significantly diminished the overall quality of the gaming experience.
I have been a long-time subscriber, but if this situation persists for even a few more days without substantial improvement, I am seriously reconsidering my subscription renewal. The issues I've encountered were virtually non-existent before Asmodee took over the domain, and it's disheartening to witness the deterioration in service.
I urge you to take immediate action to rectify these problems and restore the platform to the reliable and enjoyable state it once was. I understand that managing an online gaming platform is a complex task, but the current situation is simply unacceptable, especially for a platform with a history of hosting prestigious events.
Please consider this message as a sincere plea from a dedicated user who wants to see this platform thrive. I believe addressing these issues promptly will not only retain current subscribers but also attract new users who may have been deterred by recent problems.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to a swift resolution.
Sincerely,
CraftyRaf

As you may be aware, there have been many updates lately to get ready for peak hours. Even though there were two brief outages yesterday evening, one of our game servers hasn't responded correctly since Saturday, which regrettably does happen occasionally. It was already fixed this morning. With the exception of this weekend's incident, things have improved significantly since the summer, when we first began updating our servers.
With more complicated games, we are currently dealing with roughly the same amount of traffic on our server as during the pandemic's peak periods.
Please rest assured that the team is putting in a lot of effort right now to maintain service despite the increasing traffic.

Ich möchte keine Entschuldigung hören oder Rechtfertigung. Bringen sie das Ding endlich nach 2 Jahren zum Laufen. Seit die 2 Gründer weg sind wird es nur schlechter. Ich denke sie sind überfordert.

Re: "Sending Move To Server"
Just think what's going to happen when Twilight Imperium goes live on BGA. THEN you'll see some server issues.
The problem most likely stems from one main issue on the site: turn based games. Once a real time game is done, it logs the results and scores, creates the game log file for people to rewatch/review, and then it's done. With turn based, it has to store that game somewhere in RAM or temporary storage while it waits for the next player to take their turn, and some of these games sit for months. That hogs up a lot of the server space and memory.
The only real solutions to solve a lot of the current issues are 1) remove turn based games and only allow real time games (is there really a need for turn based Yahtzee, Rummy, Dominoes, etc.? If a game averages less than 20 minutes, it should ONLY be real time. If you can't invest 20 minutes, then you shouldn't start a game.) and I know this option is going to be unpopular, so 2) limit turn based games to games that average 30 minutes or longer (I'd say 1 hour or longer, but I'm being generous going down to 30 minutes) or the game must be completed within 21 days of the game start. Realistically, no game should take more than 3 weeks to complete. Doing one of these should dramatically increase the server performance.
If there's any other real issue, it would just be down to A) poor server management, or B) cheap server equipment. There's no reason that "upgrades" should make something run worse unless you're skimping and buying cheaper equipment that doesn't communicate with the other equipment properly or you have an IT team that isn't qualified to run them properly.
