Bga punishing system

Post by T0p0Gigi0 »

Hi all is
I want to discuss the bga management of disconnecting players.
I'm trying to compete in a tournament arena, but twice already, the system automatically join me to a game while I'm absent and someone else is using my iPad. Of course I get kicked out loosing tonns of points and I'm beginning to loose the will to keep playing for this tournament. This punishing method prevent people from disconnecting half way through the game but end up punishing people who are not even aware the game has started. Nobody is aware of the option of not kicking out opponents. It would be enough to terminate the game and nobody gets hurt. But people are greedy and see an easy prey. Easy points. This should be prevented by the system. If the game starts and there is no sign of life on other side from start, then the game should end without punishment.

If you sign up to play a real-time game, then you are committing to play that game - if you don't show up for it, then you are penalised (as your opponent has their time wasted by you not showing up).

I have heard that sometimes cancelling to join a game doesn't always cancel the request, and if that is what's happening, then you should raise a bug about it (though please be sure this is what is happening). I personally have never had this issue, but I rarely use the new lobby (game page), but usually launch games via the old lobby (Play Now). Using that may be another solution to your issue.

Why not play turn based tournaments instead?

Real time tournaments require a big time commitment so if you can't guarantee to be available to play perhaps turn based is better

I actually went and checked the profile and most of the games they have been recently booted from are just plain old Arena, not tournaments. Real-time tournaments are definitely tougher if you're not online a lot after they start. But this isn't that, so I assume it may be the cancel-doesn't-really-cancel problem I've heard sometimes happens.
