Easy, Medium, Difficult?

What is the difference between these modes?

I'm just learning the game, have played a few solo rounds pretty successfully without really knowing what I'm doing. :D Now I'm playing a 2 player game but I'm wondering where the Prospect card comes in? I haven't seen it in the solo game and it's not in the 2 player game I'm in, but that's set to Easy mode.

Difficulty change the amount of enemy at the end of the years.
