What is your opinion on tabletalk in games. Is it ok to negotiate/suggest moves in games like 7 wonders, res arcana, king of tokyo, ark nova or worker placements?
Usually there is no talk in games on bga but it might be because it is online. For example in ark nova I find it hard to belive that there is no communication involved regarding causing breaks in your games irl (no revealing secret information ofc though). It is rare that someone doesn't comment on green/red cards in 7 wonders games irl.
Is suggesting a good move to someone ok in 3p game if you are going to benifit from that move too? Is asking not to do a certain move in exchange for a promise of not making another move acceptable? Baisically I am talking about using chat as a mean to winning without revealing secret informations (or any other form of cheating).
The specific situation that pushed me towards writing this thread is a 3p game of res arcana in which I suggested to another player making a move (causing victory check) when it would make me win, because he couldn't get 1st place anyway and if he didn't, then 3rd player would outscore both of us and win with a slower strategy. So with this move the order was 1. me 2. victory check player 3. slow strat. If he didn't make this move it would be 1. slow strat 2. me 3. victory check
Do you think I was allowed to say this or not. To be specific I didn't suggest the move, I only asked "does it make a diffrence to you if you are 2nd or 3rd" or sth like this, but I wanna know what you think about saying out loud the move it would be.
