Can someone explain what a red thumb does? I can't find anything on the site (feel free to share link if you know where it is!) Is it just for your knowledge - so you don't play with the same person again? Does it show up in public for them? I'd like not to play with a person again - but can't figure out how to block. Someone said if you give them the red thumb it blocks them - I don't want anything to go on their record though.
TIA for your help!
Happy recovering from the Holidays!
You block someone by giving them a red thumb. They won't directly see that you've red thumbed them, but there are indirect ways to infer it.
There are a couple caveats. It does not block them from being paired with you in tournaments. It *currently* blocks them from being paired with you in Arena, but BGA has hinted that this will change soon, although they haven't provided details (e.g., if you are paired with someone you have red thumbed in Arena will their chat be blocked for you?).
There are two types of red thumbs: private and public. Private red thumbs are basically just a way to block someone for personal reasons not generally applicable to everyone. It sounds like what you want.
Another change recently implemented is that public red thumbs no longer have a direct effect on karma. It no longer matters much, but the difference was that public red thumbs were basically a declaration that this person is a public menace that everyone should avoid, and you were limited in how many you could give as a ratio with how many green thumbs you'd given.
