Request to Change Reputation Penalty Rules

Post by Dbl_ZZ »

Currently, you lose karma (10 or 20%) for timeouts, expulsions, etc. The first one is 10% and subsequent ones within a certain time frame are 20%. However, this method isn't fair in my opinion & unequally penalizes players who play frequently and/or play shorter games. The penalty increase from 10 to 20% shouldn't be based on just time since last penalty. It should also consider games played since last penalty.

I primarily play games that last 10-15 minutes each & can easily play 10 games in a single day. I can timeout on a game today and lose 10%, then play another 50 games before I timeout again later this week and then lose 20% to be at 80%. The same as someone who plays 1 game today that times out and then another in 2 weeks that times out. So while I timed out less than 5% of the time I have the same reputation as someone who timed out 100% of the time. (Granted this is an extreme example).

I think the increase from 10 to 20% should "expire" using the current time since last penalty but also include an exception such as:

10% for first one, 20% for second one within X days from first one UNLESS player brought reputation back to 100% and maintained 100% for X games (say 10 or 20).

I don't think I agree with you.

If you play a lot, it's easy to get your karma back to 100%. If you play two one-hour games per day, it will take a lot longer to get it back.
By the way, 80 or even 70% karma is really not a big deal, and it won't affect your ability to find games.

If you are running out of time and getting kicked a lot, maybe you might want to select/create slower games. You can choose the speed when you create a table (fast, normal or slow), to get much more time when it's your turn.

Yeah, and 20 short games later you're back at 100%, the same cannot be said for the player dealing with longer games, as their 20 will take longer. Even with your extreme example the similarity doesn't last long.

The karma deduction system is rather lenient. Getting/remaining at 100% is laughably easy, especially when playing shorter games with their far faster recovery.
