How many puzzles are currently implemented?

Post by Kaepo »

I started an easy game, and my opponent "found" the code right after the first round, which was impossible unless doing a wild guess.
Then just one or two games later, I was myself playing a game with exactly the same puzzle, so I knew the answer, and I then realized my previous opponent was in the same situation.

Thus, playing the same puzzle seems not rare at all, which is definitely rigging the game.

Do we know how many puzzles have been implemented?

It can be guessed on the first round without cheating.

You know that there is exactly 1 code that will pass all 4 verifiers, but if you remove any one of the verifier, there will be more than 1 code.

For example, if the 4 verifier never referred to blue, but a verifier refers to number of 3, then you know blue is 3. Otherwise there will be no way to disambiguate the blue number.

Similarly, if you see a how many 3s verifier, and a how many evens verifier, you know the 3s verifier is never all 3s, otherwise the evens verifier will be redundant

Not in this game: https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=456865679 (EDIT: wrong, the correct game is https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=456862118)
Checking A and B can fix the value of Blue, but checking C does not fix the two other values.

And that does not change the fact that I played twice the same puzzle in 3 or 4 games.

Here is all the potential solutions for the puzzle:
115/145/155/313/323/511/541/551
Dunno if all could happen or not.
But on the game you shared, there was three full turns before the first guess.

Damn, my bad: not the right game. I meant this one: https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=456862118

Oh that one is easy.
Instantly, A&B fix the value of blue and blue can be 1245.
Then a second strong start is because it's hard to fix the value of yellow or purple. If one of them is 1, it can be 3 or 5 too and you can't know it.
So firstly y=p else you could just swap them.
And secondly yp=24.
But so from D, there can't be three evens else B is uselss. So b is odd. So b=15 and you will need to ask one question to A.
And finally, if there was two 4s, then thanks to B (which is odd), D would be useless. So it can't be two 4s.
So since y=p=24, y=p=2.

Which means 122 & 522 are only solutions. I expect anyone with 250+ elo to find it under 3min.

Anyway it is true that for the time being there are too few games implemented... especially in the easy mode.
Most of the times I find myself guessing the right code just after looking at the verifiers, and if that happens it's because the same games appear all the time.

OK, I think I need to refocus the thread.
I never said this puzzle is difficult. On the contrary, I wrote in my first post it was an easy game.

In other games I played with him or her, the winner seemed not making deep inductions, so I strongly suspected he or she either made a wild guess or already knew the answer for this puzzle.
First, I thought it was a wild guess. Then, a couple of games later, I had exactly the same puzzle, thus I already knew the answer. That makes me think it was likely the case for the player who won this puzzle against me. So I got the same puzzle twice within a few games, and I believe he or she also got this puzzle twice within a few games.

And that is my point: if too few puzzles are implemented, that is rigging the game. Is it the case for easy puzzles only? Or does it concern all puzzles? Or is it a problem with the random puzzle selection, which is not random enough? Anyway, there is something fishy here.

I checked the timer of your game.
That person didn't do it in one question but with three questions.
He wrotes a code after 20 seconds, so I assume it was more or less random (even if as I said in my previous post you could totally find that y=p=24, and so have a good feeling of writing a code with two 4s to check). Then he asked three questions.
Since that setup is pretty easy, with two more minutes of thinking during your turn, he is able to reduce the problem to a single solution.
So it seem there was no cheat or something he already did.

But now as a more general answer, personnally, even with easy 4, I still got lots of differents problems, he look like you got 'unlucky' to get a puzzle you already get before.
I remember having it once, I assume I got a previous one that i didn't see, but that was rare.

And about your initial question which is the title of the post, I believe I read that the puzzle are coming from their website, but i could be wrong.
