Flexibility of number of players

Post by wydadman »

One of the most frustrating issues in BGA is that the number of players you want in a game is sometimes not what you get. I personaly much prefer to play 1v1. It goes much faster, and strategically hindering oppenent is more viable unlike in 3 players game where you mainly try to improve your position. But even if explecitely specify the number of players, sometimes I am paired against more than one opponent. If this was a premium feature, it's fair to incetive free players to upgrade, but the problem is that, 1, this also happened to me when I was premium, 2, this happens also in non premium games. Another thing is that speed/duration of the game and number of players have only one button to be flexible on them or not. Creating a button that allow flexibility for number of players and duration of the game separetely would be a good start. Enforcing them will be better. I want to say that it would be nice if it become a premium feature. But imposing a game that non premium players don't want is probably nothing something BGA want. I personally quit some games where I am paired against the wrong number of players.

How are you starting your games? From Play, or the new way, from the game page? The new way should be fixed players number

I almost always play turn based games from the game's page. Although I set 2 as the number of players, and I don't set the duration as flexible, sometimes I even reject suggestions of games with 3+ players. I still get paired against 3+ players. For example now I have many trailing 3+ players games that I never wanted to player, or even worse, I rejected but still was "forced" to play them. Until I get fed up and quit the games I did not want to play.

I suggest using "Play Now" since it may be much more reliable to see tables available, who is at which table (and what rating), and only join/create the table you wish.
