From my side of few the most of the time the opponent can start the game.
How does the game select the beginning?

Pretty sure it's randomly (except maybe if you replay with the same opponent, where it could alternate).

If your perception is correct (and very often it isn't), it's just that you've had a streak of "bad luck". It happens, no conspiracy there.

Starting player is chosen randomly, as Jellby said.

You have started 9 of your last 20 games (45%).
You have started 13 of your last 30 games (43%).
You have started 20 of your last 40 games (50%).
You have started 24 of your last 50 games (48%).

Why do you think your opponents start more often than you?
