New Arena Format

Post by Bloodyjester »

What about make arena more like an official tournament

Example: Make divisions (like 8 players each division - variable for each game)

Go for 1 division 1 / 2 divisions 2 / 4 divisions 3 / 8 divisons 4 and so on.

Top player from each division go up, bottom 2 players of each divison go down.

First arena season can get standings from last arena season

New players start at bottom divison

Players that drop out from one season to another leave open slots to returning players.

Players will need subscribe to arena season like they do to tournaments

Yes, if everybody play every season but it is not the case. I guess that in low division there will be often only 1 active player.

But with the current league format you can choose the option to play only against players at your level

Yeah will be a lot less players at arena

The actual format is better to more casual players

About active players when u subscribe to arena u need play the games or get karma or something like that

One game with bad luck against a casual player and you get -35 points.... something that takes 5,6 or 7 wins in a row to make up for.
Arena is addictive but the design stinks and the platform should be managed by someone fair enough to recognise when something is not fairly implementation.
I like your idea, ufortunately they seems to care very little about any of these suggestions.

The idea of more levels (and of end-of-season relegation) is interesting; it's always frustrating early in the season when you're paired with someone who you later find out from their ELO is _way_ stronger than you, and you fight tooth and nail and narrowly win or narrowly lose BUT because the season just started they're at the "same level" as you. Very discouraging! I hadn't been able to think of a better way but the relegation pattern described in this post could work....

And the fact it could work is the main reason why it will be ignored and not implemented. Sadly I will not renew my premium account, they are just not worth my money
