Effects on a Game from Expelling Player

Post by Liallan »

I would think someone would have posted on this, but I can't find it. Sorry if this is a repeat.

So I've got this game of Stone Age. Player A, first on turn, never took his turn. So he got expelled. So it skipped to Player B to start. Next round Player B got to start again. Then it went to C & D. Then there we are on Player A again, who isn't there, so B gets to go, and then B gets to go again on the next round. So every time it comes around again, Player B gets to go twice in a row.

This is an unfair, unbalanced problem for this game. (I'm already foreseeing a definitive problem with him getting to start next round again when it should be me. Little problem of a card... )

There's other problems, which I think are more minor, like that all 4 hut piles are still there, and no one gets blocked out of the village. I don't think the huts are hurting anything, but the village issue kinda makes it easier - I'm sure someone would mind that. ;)

It's turn-based, but I'm not seeing that this issue would be any different with the real-time games. ?? That's why I was surprised to not see anything about this, cause this could throw off a lot of games when this happens, not just because of start player but all sorts of reasons.

I'm seeing this as kind of a serious issue. I would think either everyone would need to agree to play that way (like in a case where it doesn't really matter), or fix it so the game realizes that the players have changed and adjust accordingly.

Please see this post: http://forum.boardgamearena.com/viewtop ... 2420#p8938
It explains the expelled/has quit player conundrum.
If you have an ongoing game completely broken by the zombie (impact can of course vary depending on the game) and it makes no sense to spend the time to finish the game in this conditions, the best is probably to propose other players to abandon the game collectively.

Cheers,

Thanks for the link. (Game platform forum? Is that like a secret area?)

I didn't realize it would not affect the ELO, so since it can't hurt me I see no reason not to finish it. (Although I could win, so no ELO boost could be a bummer. Though a nice boost to my ego to win an unbalanced game. )

At least I know for the next time this happens, and will also know to ask right from the start.
