We are happy and proud to introduce Sobek, a game from Bruno Cathala published by GameWorks.Sobek is a simple but tricky game for 2 to 4 players.
You are an Egyptian merchant ready for everything to get rich, even corruption. You have to collect goods and sell them at the best price. During a Sobek game, everything is about choices:
- Choice 1: just take the first (leftmost) good along the Nile river in your hand, whether you like it or not.
- Choice 2: take the second, the third or eventually the fourth good along the Nile. In this case, skipped cards are going to your "corruption" pile, and this may harm you a lot at the end of the round.
- Choice 3: play a set of at least 3 goods from the same type in front of you. This is a good idea to do this, because this is how you score points

- Choice 4: finally, there are special "characters" cards with special powers that you can play. For example, the Scribe makes all your opponents discard down to 6 cards in hand - so no, this is not a good strategy to accumulate goods in hand.
Then, right at the moment you're the King of the World with plenty of points, you discover that you're the one that collect the most corruption cards during the round... and in this case you move back on the scoring track - and if you won a lot of points you move back even faster !
Now that you know the basics, you just have to read complete rules to know everything !
Sobek adaptation for BGA has been developed by the incredible Pierre Scelles: thank you a lot Pierre for the hard work ! The big boss of GameWorks, Sébastien Pauchon, and the amazing Bruno Cathala helps us a lot to make things right for this adaptation : a big thank you for making all of this possible !
Enjoy !
