Well, I don't think BGA would allow Coin Toss, Chutes, War, or other such games which can be fully automated...ChiefPointThief wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 06:03 Some classic board games like chutes and ladders, trouble, candyland are some examples of games that fits op criteria.

Oh great! There are actual statistics for this (too bad all games don’t have relevant statistics). I average 4 more tanks per game than the average player on bga and almost 6 more than the average winner. Maybe I should partake in the next bga is rigged threadChiefPointThief wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 05:41I meant tanks. There is 1 tank on each die. I roll too many tanks. (Sigh)ufm wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 04:50Where did you read that? There are 2 death rays per die. Even the official rulebook says so.ChiefPointThief wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 01:55 I was extremely surprised when I read the rules for Martian dice and learned there is only one alien per die.
Re: Which BGA games are most driven by luck?
I won't argue with it being better than a coin flip atm. It's luck tier, but it's quite possible it's not as luck-based as what the OP is looking for. My main objection was just when it got introduced as being in a skill tier with games like Ticket To Ride, which was tiers above it in skill, somehow thrown in the luck category of that nature.ChiefPointThief wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 06:03Understood. But what op asked for was games that are basically a coin flip and has nothing to do with your decisions. If I can have a 70%+ winrate over 90%+ of the lucky number players based off of my decisions than it doesn’t apply to what op was asking for. Another game Cigma mentioned was captain flip. You get a tile and place it on your board or flip it. Yes it is a luck base game but I managed to win 7 of 9 games. Most likely I made some decisions that increase my win % above 50%.Ceaseless wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 04:49Like I said before, I'm not saying the game has no skill, just nothing great. If you want to say Can't Stop has less skill I have no objections in either direction, that game is another known luckfest. I couldn't tell you what the luck tiers are for games like Lucky Numbers and Can't Stop, where low numbers like 300 actually make it in the top 100 despite having an active playerbase.ChiefPointThief wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 01:55
Ok. Lets look at two games. Can't Stop and Lucky Numbers. In can't stop I've got as high as 320s which was good for somewhere in the top 100. I used to do the daily tournaments. There has been times when in one day I plummeted from 300s to 100. Then the next day I may win 12/15. Now lets look at lucky numbers. I've peeked at 420 which at the time was somewhere in the top 20. I've played over 200 games and haven't plummeted well below 300. Nevermind all the way down to 100. Why? Because there is some level of skill involved in lucky numbers. I'm never losing 12-15 games in lucky numbers like I can in can't stop especially not playing lower elo players.
Some classic board games like chutes and ladders, trouble, candyland are some examples of games that fits op criteria.

Interesting, I wasn't expecting that. Why not? No objections to never seeing them on BGA myself, but I'm sure there's an audience for them somewhere.ufm wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 08:06Well, I don't think BGA would allow Coin Toss, Chutes, War, or other such games which can be fully automated...ChiefPointThief wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 06:03 Some classic board games like chutes and ladders, trouble, candyland are some examples of games that fits op criteria.

As these 'games' have no choices at all, in some sense they're even worse than underdeveloped prototypes.
Also, fully automating the game from the start to the end actually throws an error.
Trust me, I tried this at least once, albeit accidentally.
Re: Which BGA games are most driven by luck?
For 2 players, after 50% there's at least one choice: concede or continue
Re: Which BGA games are most driven by luck?
Don't know most of the others, but Ticket to Ride definitely does NOT belong on this list. There is a lot more skill than beginners seem to realize. I finished in the top 30 in the last arena, out of more than 11,000 players, so I know. And I still have a losing record against the guy who finished #1, though I have beaten him. But he's definitely better than me.cigma wrote: ↑20 January 2024, 14:59 I mostly agree with Nastaa, but not fully about Lucky Numbers. I think this one is often underestimated for the skill needed, which is 50-60% (at least as 2 player game) from my point of view.
Here some more suggestions:
Ticket to Ride
7 Wonders Architects
Captain Flip
Living Forest
Lost Cities
Llama
Mia
Draftosaurus
That’s life
Balloon Pop
But of course they may be discussed also, especially the first 4 of this list
And I am curious: Why are you looking for the most luck based games? If you want to find games suitable for children, this thread might be helpful for you: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=107984
Re: Which BGA games are most driven by luck?
In War, if you win some cards then you actually do have a choice - how do you organize the cards before you put them to the bottom of your deck. You have some very limited ways to strategize but it would take a massive amount of effort to actually succeedufm wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 08:06Well, I don't think BGA would allow Coin Toss, Chutes, War, or other such games which can be fully automated...ChiefPointThief wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 06:03 Some classic board games like chutes and ladders, trouble, candyland are some examples of games that fits op criteria.

Just remember the stats are total rolls and not %s. You have more tanks and rays and earthlings than average! Just suggests you re roll more than average. Overall you roll a tank 18% of the time compared to the true odds of 17% so you’ve not even been particularly unlucky.ChiefPointThief wrote: ↑24 January 2024, 12:17Oh great! Of course the winners roll less but then that’s partly why they won!
