+1 for removing the exhaustive list of 750+ games with active tables. (Hopefully that's available elsewhere. I'm sure it's helpful information. Just not here.)
+1 for adding a link to hide waiting-for-you-but-no-tables. (Please do the same with play-but-no-tables, arena-but-no-tables, and tournament-but-no-tables.)

-1 for putting what amounts to an ad for arena games (which I do not use) smack dab in the middle of my list of tables.

+1 for continuing to support Preferences > Advanced > css style customizations

Code: Select all

#section-arena {
  display:none;
}

Chiming in to see if information that's gone missing on the new 'gameinprogress' (GIP) is still out there, and I just don't know where to find it.
  • Game setup options - e.g. turns/day, and game specifics like Agricola decks or Ark Nova maps
  • Player experience with the game - e.g. Beginner, Strong Player, Expert.
  • Counted list all BGA games, giving total players, total real-time tables, and total turn-based tables per game.
I've found the first one inside profile pic -> current games, on the purple strip between gamename and players. Weird that it's not on GIP anymore.
The last one was very useful for seeing what was most popular on BGA, letting me decide what to try next much better than BGA's recommendations.

Hmm, I do see the point that each player's GIP page wasn't the best spot for this site-wide info. Is it still available somewhere else on BGA ?

I don't know. I have my doubts, though, whether that other place would have this information in as succinctly compact a list.

Maybe the ordering on https://boardgamearena.com/gamelist?allGames= is nominally by "popularity"? (I recall Ark Nova and Azul being the first two on that list and up there with Wingspan and Catan.) It's a slightly different metric than "number of currently active tables," though.

https://boardgamearena.com/gamelist?isPopular= is the list I normally use to see top 100 popularity. I don't know what metric is used, however.

Why did it need to change? who is doing your UI/UX?
Why do I need to have an "Arena" section between my "tables" and "tournaments" when I'm not in any game in the Arena?
Isn't it enough that you made creating a new game combersome?
Can you please allow a way to view things the way they used to.

I had made the bug/suggestion #107385: "Suppress the "Other games in progress" part from "gameinprogress" web page" (https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=107385) for that.

But now 2/3 of the new data shown are unuseful :(

People have requested dark theme for years. see here: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=14281 I'm told the old chief of BGA said in a reddit live Q&A that is was not a priority because they were "prioritising UX for our users". Make of that what you will. Apparently people who struggle with bright pages and lots of visual smash aren't important.

Workarounds are use chrome's native DM or load a CSS dark mode in your profile preferences such as the one by Bastian on github. I am working on a fork of it that also handles the new lobby pages but I had to put it on the backburner due to life and now will have more work getting these other calamitous updates to display less jarringly before I can share it with anyone.
For Google Chrome (and Edge) users, you can install this extension: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detai ... imepllkacb

I made an update this morning: https://imgur.com/a/VeqFGfu
thanks that's the one i was thinking of. Firefox user here hence the work i'm doing on one.
yep :)

The new display is to too crowded. For example, users don't want to see the PLAY section and the ARENA sections when they have games only in the TOURNAMENT section.
Please revert back to the original clean, uncluttered, and easy to read page or at least allow users to configure what items they want to see on the web page.
