KenFin1 wrote: 08 February 2024, 12:17 Thanks for sharing this. It works, kind of, but drops out if there are any tables waiting to start/get filled, which get placed in the "play" and "arena" sections but in a way they are not as easily referenced.
I don't have any games in that state. I don't suppose you could copy the HTML for them and post or send it to me in a PM?

Also, I think I can make the code slightly better if I can figure our how to use the :has() feature.

1. I have seen it mentioned to try the "single column option". I have looked but so far I can't find that option. Could someone say which page and where on the page to do that?

2. Also the global information number of games being played used to be on this page. Is that gone now? I used to like to check that out sometimes.

For 1, in the upper right, just below the Friends button area is a button that looks like 4 small blue squares. The single column (and other config stuff) is there.

What is the meaning of 'relevance' when sorting tables by it?

One bit of advice is to take a look at the color scheme. I'm relatively sure it isn't remotely accessible for the visually impaired, but the white/shades of gray/shade of blue/light brown contrast simply doesn't look good. It is hard on the eyes and contributes to the overall 'business' of the new design.

Web designers typically use a 60/30/10 rule when it comes to colors. One color for 60% of the website, 30% as a secondary, and 10% as an accent. The accent color should contrast with the other colors and highlight content. The site currently uses a lot of low/medium contrast.

After a day, here are my suggestions:

Get rid of all the headings. There are already icons/colors that show all that information.
Games should be in two groups: Tables waiting for you AND Tables not wait for you (separate with a line). OR, optionally ONE BIG GROUP.
Sort options: By Game, By Type (Arena, Tournament,Play) By LEAST TIME REMAINING FOR ME. Note: If above is two groups, sort each separately.
Keep the small,medium,large options.
Default to single column display. Looking left and right is not natural for a list.
Lastly, if you (as you say) want things to load faster than don't load stuff that the vast majority of people won't ever even see, the sections at the bottom Play Again and Discover Other Games. This is just a waste of time and bandwidth.

I make these suggestions as someone who has used the site for over ten years and someone who has spent years designing web UIs.

Not seeing it. I press the menu button and make my way to the config button. In there the choices are: Email, preferences, contribute, faq, and support/help. When I go to preferences the only thing there is to choose preferred color. So it seems like I am still missing something or just at the wrong menu.

Look to the immediate left of the "Time Joker's available". It may appear as a square, 4 squares or waffle grid of 9 little squares depending on how your settings are and which device you're using. It is on the page not the site header

+1 all of that would greatly improve it for me. As would just sticking the icon type (Arena etc) on the game table itself. Like how arena tables used to get the arena icon in the old format. Then we could add back the player experience tiers and hourglasses into the single column display, shrink the fonts to more sensible sizes and basically get back to an appearance and size akin to what we used to have and would like to have back.

I really don't get the point of showing tables twice, one in the waiting and then immediately below it in "play" and "arena" areas. It's really confusing trying to work out which tables to prioritise to have it look like you have twice the number of games needing attention.

I much prefer the single column display for easier parsing, even with scrolling thanks to the overly large fonts/gappy dividers and other bloat. Using the full width option some games go full size two columns so you can read names still, but others go 4 games side by side and you can't read player names anymore, with avatars floating over the top of them. Much like the problem with the side bar menu, this is awful and the only option is go single column to get to something that is at least viewable.

The experience on the mobile app (android, chrome) is AWFUL. Seriously unusable. My phone has a decent screen size but both side bar and page are pretty much unusable. I can't understand how this didn't get picked up in testing.

Filter settings aren't retained, they have to be reset after every session login. I will have to add these to my CSS as I do not want to have to make 4-5 clicks on settings every time I log in and view this page (which is after every log in when I have active games)

By justifying the player names to spread across the table bar it makes reading weird as you scan down lists. Just fill up from the left like it used to, then if we're trying to find a 3p game we can easily spot it amongst the 2/4/5/6 player games. The old version was so well presented, it just needed carrying forwards. Why ditch it and start again?

Found it! Thank you. I was thinking that button had something to do with the time joker. Thanks again.
