I am experiencing the same thing that others mentioned - players not seeming to understand that the Turn Based Games are not live.

I don't think turn-based is the best term to use for the games(they are all turn based games), as it doesn't imply longer periods of time between moves. The term I have heard used that hints more of a difference to me is asynchronous play.

My biggest issue is that the turn based / asynchronous gaming has flagged me as someone who takes too long to have a turn - I thought the whole point was that timing wasn't going to be an issue.

This is maybe a good idea. I think I "got it" cause I'd see both listed on BGG and understood there was a difference, but asynchronous might be a useful term for those who maybe don't understand.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you get "flagged" unless someone either expels you from the game or you go over your total time that includes the start time. Either way, it's because you went over your allotted time. Unless it's the unlimited option, you do still have a time limit - so it's not that "timing isn't an issue" - it's that you have 12 hours or 24 hours or whatever to take your turn. So if it's a once a day game, and you take 3 days to take a turn, yes you can get expelled.

(**Even with "unlimited" there still is a limit, but it's a ridiculous amount, like 20 days per turn and an approximate 4-month start time.)

After some more games which are more suited for turn based play, I have to confess, that there won't be any turn based gaming here any more.
I started a game of Spyrium (1move/day) on June 14th, it's in round 4/6 now. Spyrium is a game that needs about 50-70 actions per player. In the same time i have started and finished many turn based games of Terra Mystica on http://terra.snellman.net/ which has about 50 actions per player.

I totally respect your right to not want to play turn-based here, for whatever reasons you have, but I don't get the connection to the Terra Mystica thing. They don't kick anyone out for a week with no turns, whereas here you can get expelled after a much, much shorter period of time. So what situation exists there that automatically means your games are going to go faster there? Because I don't see one, other than a coincidence or having hand-selected opponents you know will go fast.

(That site looks fairly new and I have to wonder if you're just advertising.)
