Quarantine Lab Implementation consistent with rules?

Post by HighwayGoGo »

Hello all,

I recently had a game (https://boardgamearena.com/4/arknova?table=477462142#) in which my opponent had constricted my association action. On my next turn, I played the quarantine lab and on the next turn I took an action assuming that I could then association action at strength 5 despite the token being on it but was informed that it was still strength 3. Reading the glossary for quarantine lab it says "The effects of Venom, Constriction, Hypnosis, and Pilfering do not affect you." and "Essentially, your counters on the tracks are ignored." This would seem to imply that existing tokens are negated once quarantine lab is played (maybe the quarantine lab should wipe existing tokens in addition to preventing them from being added since that's the same). Do other think that this is the right interpretation or does bga have it right and I'm misreading the rules?

Thanks all!

Upon reading more forums and a response from the designer, I now see that the "counters on tracks" is in reference to the appeal and conservation counters, and not in reference to the counters on the action cards. I'll leave this up in case someone in the future has the same question and the mods can remove it otherwise.

Yea, the card is implemented correctly. It's important to remember that the card gives you immunity to those card effects, which receiving negative tokens is the result of two of them. Once you already have the tokens, you have to follow those specific rules for getting rid of them.
