Discussion on New Card Problems in Seasons

Post by posterchild21 »

I had a question about a couple of cards, as I don't think they are operating the way the creators intended and I thought I could bring it up.

1: If you use Dragonsoul to redo a Dice of Malice, you still are stuck with the first reroll. I think you should add the option to Dragonsoul a Dice of Malice before you get the benefit of the die.

2: Ragfield says if you have 10 crystals and either get a card OR discard the card for a summoning. Right now, it seems whoever plays it gets a summoning and whether you keep your card or not you don't get the summoning?

3: Dial of Colof should be before Carvina Strombosa. I get putting Carvina before stuff that give you an extra season token at end of round (like Beggars horn), but the decision to take a card at end game depends on what you reroll for the season die and if the game is ending. So maybe make Dial of Colof the first thing they ask you at end of season.

point #1 The dice has to be resolved before any other action is taken. So if you re-roll the die then you have to resolve it before you can activate any cards. It does state that if you have two die of malice you can re-roll the card by activating one after the other. This is how it works in the real game and I agree with it since it should be separate game phases Die phase and card phase. The Die of malice only works because it is connected to the die this is not the case with the Dragonsoul

#2 THe RageField does not say or discard. I agree it is written poorly. But it states that any player with more than 10 points can discard a card and draw a new one and increase the summoning gage

#3 No man just no. You Re-roll the die FIRST it is a card that is triggered by the "End of round" The end of round is resolved before the dice movement. And the card that lets you re-roll is connected to the movement so it happens Last. Thats just the order of things It would be way to overpowered to be able to choose and know the outcome. The whole reason to re-roll is to take a chance.

1. If the die has to be resolved before taking any activation effects, how are you activating the Die of Malice irl. That logic makes no sense.

2. The card very clearly says each player who has 10 crystals, draws a power card and either keeps THEIR power card OR discard the power card and increases THEIR summoning by one. I don't understand why BGA thinks the last part is entirely separate, and even if it was the people drawing a card would also get a summoning increase, not just the person playing the card. That would say increase YOUR summoning by one.

3. Rerolling the die is an end of the round effect, not a movement effect. Also, I was never suggesting you could just pick what it becomes, so I have no idea what you are talking about there. Just because the current system has the reroll immediately change the season does not mean it has to happen instantly. You should reroll, see how many seasons steps will be occurring, and then make your other end of round decisions like Chalice and Carvina. That's how you do it real game, that's how it should be done here.

1. The Die of Malice is tied to the Die so its activation is triggered by the die. The dragonsoul however requires an ACTION to trigger. And you cannot take an ACTION until the die has been resolved. The card always overules any other rule in rulebook so when a card tells you that "You can reroll the season die" That overules the "an action can not be taken until the die has been resolved"

2. The card states that a player with 10 crystals may discard a powercard and draw a powercard and discard it and receive 1 summoning by one. If discarding the new card gave you summoning it would say "or discard the card TO receive 1 summoning" but it say AND so you can discard or keep the card and receive 1 summoning. Basically you can you the card to discard a card that you do not want and you can discard the card you get if you dont want that either. But you will receive 1 summoning nonetheless.

3. I see what you are saying. Yes the die re-roll should be asked about before picking the effect of other end of round cards. So you can choose to pick up a new card or not depending on if you have a new round comming or not. So I agree with you on that point.
