Scoring Question - Point deduction

I have noticed that there are cards or plays where one player gains point and another looses points but I cannot find an explanation for this in the rules. Could some one explain please. I can see this happening when playin in ARENA.

A few cards (like the yellow tree) give points for majority. If the opponent gains the majority by a card play the other player loses points as these are immediately calculated here.

This makes a lot os sense. I was under the mistaken idea that the condition applied at the moment of playing the card. Thanks for the clarification!!!

In the physical game, the scoring is done at the end rather than as you go. Personally I prefer playing with scoring off as it is more tense towards the end
