Real time game speeds

Post by mikkashar »

Fast, normal, and slow real time speeds are different for different games (very reasonable). Is there any way to see what those speeds are other than by clicking through all three settings in the old lobby? Is that information when setting up a game on the game pages, or anywhere else?

Yes, on the game pages, you mouse hover over the speed information to see it.

I am not quite sure what you are talking about. Let's say on the game page of Catan, I can find this information: slow = 60 mn, normal = 52 mn, fast = 46 mn. But on my computer I have to click on each specific speed in order to see this. Hoovering over the speed bar doesn't show me any information.

On the other hand, I get much more information, if I check the Play now page for it. There it says: slow = +1:49 per turn (maximal 6:00), normal = +1:08 per turn (maximal 4:00), fast = +0:43 per turn (maximal 3:00). This is quite a different information and much more helpful in my opinion. If there is any way to find the same information on the game page, I'd be very appreciated to know about it.

I don't think it's true Cigma, but that look close.
Knowing that your game in average take 30 minutes seem more helpful that knowing you can be afk/you can think each turn during 55 seconds.

I am only quoting here, what BGA is telling me.

I think both information are useful: to know the overall time and to know the details. Since there are so many problems with people going over time, I think it's crucial to have exact information about how much time you'll get for each turn before you join a game! As far as I can see this information is still missing in the new lobby (=on the game pages).

Yes, this is exactly the information I am talking about. :) Hover over the text that says "Game duration: ~X mn" to see it. Picture: https://imgur.com/a/GamydpN

Ah, thank you! On the game page, one has to hover over not the speed bar, but the game duration text below that to get the specific information about how much time per move and maximum accumulated time you can have. I would never have found that. (On the first couple of games I tried (less popular ones), it shows the same game duration for all three speeds, which certainly didn't suggest hovering there.)

The game page UI isn't intuitive at all for me. And much as I appreciate details-on-mouse-over in some of the high-information games, table setup doesn't have so much information that hiding any of it makes sense, at least to me.

Same for me  Thank you two for clarifying!
