Japanese Macaque in size 1 enclosure - how?

My opponent played a size 3 animal in a size 1 enclosure. I assume there's a simple explanation for this but I don't know what it is.

Its this maps special ability.
All enclosures next to the gate symbol in the water count as +2 in size.
