Disabled all tournaments, even invitation-only

I think tournaments with invitation should be allowed. I wanted to make one with my friends and now I cannot. What is the argument against this situation? I don't think that other people cheating in other tournaments should prevent me from doing this.

Keep arena closed, or even remove completely the ELO, but please let us have tournaments, at least invitation-only ones.

+1 from me, I could take or leave arena and ELO but I'll be really sad to lose out on tournaments for this game :(
