Question: Automatic Games and auto-dumping

Post by KDLadage »

I play a lot of Azul, so this is where I see it most often, but it happens in any game I play.

I start up an automatic game, and it comes up with players. I select to start the game, and after a moment, it is cancelled because someone has decided not to start the game. Something I move my mouse to start the game and someone has cancelled the start before I can get there.

I have had days where I have had to start a dozen or more games in order to find one where the players all decided to start the game.

Why does this happen?

What is the point of attempting to get into a game if you are going to just cancel immediately?

I have set my settings in such a way that I know this is not a karma issue (i.e., people cancelling because of people with bad karma in the group). So I ask again -- why?

Does anyone have an idea as to the nature of this behavior?

Unfortunately I think it involves the nature of searching for a real-time game on BGA.

It may take a long time to find real-time games on BGA -- perhaps you want to play something less popular. For this reason, BGA allows you to join lobbies for multiple games.

Maybe I see 2 tables for Azul, and 1 table for Llama, and 1 table for Just One. I am happy playing any of these games, so I join all 4 lobbies and wait for players.

As soon as one lobby is full, the game automatically removes me from the other lobbies, in order to start the game. To your perspective in the other lobby, it would appear as though I rudely left your game! However, this might not be what happened.
