A few players have apparently decided that the first player to roll a 7 gets to decide whether the rule gets applied or not (by robbing/not robbing in that turn) and then everyone has to stick to that decision. I once didn't pay attention in the beginning, robbed when I wasn't "supposed" to, and was scolded in the chat for it.

I'm not sure why, but in recent months playing friendly robber has apparently become the norm here at BGA. Being the first to move the robber on someone else's tile (without talking about friendly robber first) is actually dangerous, because you are then seen as rude, with all its consequences for the rest of the game. Quite annoying.

So if people ask to play friendly robber, I'll go along with it, no problem. But this is a world turned upside down in my view. And then it can still happen that people get angry because they don't wait until everyone has 3 points, instead of just the person who is being blocked, without also discussing this sub-rule in advance.

I'm a bit tired of the endless discussions. And it's just not how I prefer to play Catan honestly. Fortunately, this happens a lot less when you play with people who have a higher ELO.

I was wondering, if I become a premium member, can I exclude people with a lower ELO in advance to join my table? Or should I remove those players from the table one by one until there are only people with a slightly higher ELO?

As an additional advantage, in this way you can instantly filter out a large portion of the players who whine that you are blocking them when they do not have the highest number of points at that moment, or when they do not have the most resources in their hand (while you may have another good reason to steal or block someone at such a moment). These are often also players with a low ELO (although this is not always the case).

(This text was created using machine translation. If there are any oddities in the text, please forgive me.)

Recently, I started playing Catan on BGA.
Until then, I didn't know about the "friendly robbery" house rule, so I just carried out the robbery as normal, but luckily it didn't lead to a fight.

There is such a house rule, and I learned that there are people who want it at BGA, so I learned that if the first person who rolled a 7 moved the robber to a place where there would be no damage, I would follow it.

However, apparently this rule is also used in Arena mode, which confused me.
Personally, I don't think the rules for friendly robbery are bad, but I felt uneasy about using rules that cannot be set due to the system in ranking battles.

It's important that games be fun for those who play them.
When using a physical board, players often agree on a mutually agreed upon way of playing the game.
It may be difficult to enable a system to handle all of them.

However, in my opinion, I don't have the confidence to play the current Arena unless there is a system for "friendly robbers" such as voting, setting, and getting everyone's consent.

Through this topic, I learned that there are people who want a system to deal with "friendly robbers" and that there are also people who have had sad experiences due to rules that are not in the system.
I learned that many people have the same problem as me.
thank you.
