Maybe other sort of stones better

Post by Andy 2022 »

As Shogi is a japanese form of chess, it's stones have japanese characters which may confuse unexperienced and new players and holds them back from playing. There is another form of stones also which are simplified and also show the possible moves. It would be great if players could choose between those two character-sets.

I agree. A western set of pieces, or even the animal pieces would be nice and make the game much more accessible for people who want to try it.

Count me in the group of people wanting this as well. I've wanted to learn Shogi for a long time, but I can't learn with the Japanese pieces. Thank you for your consideration

+1 vote for the animal pieces from the 9x9 version of Let's Catch The Lion!

I agree
Both SHOGI and Chinese Korean chess are in Japanese chines and Korean which makes it difficult for western players to relate properly to these AWESOME GAMES
There should be an option to have the choice of eastern or western idiograms
SHOGI is tame
Chinese and Korean chess are both nightmares to play because not only do you need to read the Chinese or Korean idiograms but the fact that the idiograms on oposiye sides are different from your opponent's pieces
Read E for one side and K on the other side for kings
And H on the one side and K on the other side for the horse knight
