Belote : arena competition now playing no trumps ??!!???

Big surprise this evening. I started the arena tournament and stumbled on unforeseen changes : not only does the game turn clockwise now, but the "no trumps" annoucement is "on".

Is this mandatory now ?

I know there have been recent complaints about a setting on Arena Belote - I don't play it myself, so I have no context - and I am pretty sure it was in the context of the current season, so yes, this would be what the settings are for this season. It may be changed at the start of the next season, depending what the gurus decide.

Sure. That's what I'd be doing (and have done) if the settings didn't suit me as well. Play more non-Arena games with the settings you like - maybe you'll end up a guru and have some impact to change it. And while you might impact things by posting on the forums, you'd probably get more traction by posting in the Belote forum where Belote players (and gurus) are more likely to see it, than here in the general forum.

This happens with all games. If you play the game more times than others in a given season, you are asked what you would prefer for the next season. I think you can play outside the arena, the way you prefer, and still become a "Guru" to make your preferences count next time?

This is correct. I became a guru for "Twin Tin Bots" after my very first game when I wasn't even qualified for Arena.
