Game population. Highest to lowest.

Post by CocoMonono »

A few months ago they did a minor redesign of “your tables”. Before I could go to my tables and if I scrolled to the bottom, it would then have a list of the most popular games.
It was a lot of fun seeing ark nova come for azul’s throne.

I can no longer find this list anywhere. I can click on a game and see the tables sure, but that won’t help me find how cribbage is doing in comparison to other games at a glance.

Does this list still exist?

I believe when it was removed from the page you described, it wasn't recreated anywhere else. I used to have a bookmark directly to that page.

In fairness, it has been said that generating that list degraded site performance. I could see how that would happen if it queried the database any time any user visited that page. But what about just running the query once every hour or two? It wouldn't be "live," but it would be good enough imo.

Indeed, it degraded performance and didn't need loaded for the vast majority of players. I'm glad for that change.

However it would be nice if a cached snapshot could be found on a different page for players who care.

Even if it was just a once a week round up. When architects of the west kingdom came out. It was fascinating seeing it over take Stone Age. But after a few weeks, Stone Age held strong.

I think it’s just really fun.
