Giving up very shortly before the end of the game

Hi,

I see more and more people giving up games very shortly before the end. Is this due to less ELO loss? I personally find it frustrating not being able to see the final scope in a game.

I could understand if people giving up in the middle of the game, in case they think they have lost already but shortly before the last move feels like this is driving by some mechanics of the website. What is the impact if I give up a game?
