Two suggestions for Backgammon

Post by Q29 »

My sister and I have been playing backgammon on BGA for about a year now. Last weekend we tried the new version of backgammon. Based on that experience, I have a couple of suggestions:

1) In the original version, we never had to "confirm" a move. I understand the need for a "confirm" button, because my sis and I often have grumbled about not being able to take back a move that was made in error. However, I would suggest that the game automatically accept a move if the player has not retracted the move within three seconds. This way, one can have the option of undoing a move without always having to click twice for every move.

2) In the new version, the game tokens move so instantaneously that I find it hard to notice a difference in the board after I move. Sometimes I wonder if my move has even taken effect because I notice no change in the board. It would help if the movement of the tokens was illustrated with a little animation so that it is clear to everyone where the token started and where it ended up.

You've posted in the site suggestions forum, but it looks like your suggestion is only for Backgammon. It should go in the Backgammon forum:
viewforum.php?f=71

I'd rather a confirm button or none at all. An automated timer just makes realtime games take longer because players use it instead of the button. Much worse.
