As far as I can tell,on this platform if you play a card that instructs you to play microbes or animals, and you don't have a card that takes them but another player does, you are forced to either add them to the other player's card,or undo the playing the card action.I'm not reporting that as a bug because I can't tell from reading the rules whether that is correct or not.

It‘s not in the rules, and it doesn’t work like that on this platform either. I have played dozens of game here and have never been forced to place an animal or microbe.

The system does it as one of the actions, and there is no option not-to-do-it.

This is false. On bga you are always prompted where to place the resources, and none is an option 100% of the time. I can say from a fair bit of experience on this platform lol. I would recommend paying closer attention the next time you play a card that adds resources to another card when playing on bga. “None” will be an option.

Additionally it’s by design. These are the intended rules.

What I get is an option to select the order in which actions are done - for example increase terraforming, get titanium, place animals. So if I don't have any cards that will take animals, but one of my opponents does,I try doing all of the other actions first.Only then the system just places the animals automatically on my opponents card.
Maybe if more than one opponent's card took animals, the system would have to offer me a choice of cards, and maybe that choice would include a 'none' option. But in the situation I have described where there is only one card,it places the animal automatically and doesn't offer that choice.

If your opponent has the "Pets" card in play already, whenever anyone (including you) plays a city, pets will get a counter. You cannot stop this even if you are the one playing a city. It is a mandatory effect, not optional. The rulebook has more details. Hope this helps.

No, it doesn't. I have over 100 games on this platform. Other people in this thread with 100+ games say the same, the interaction is not how you describe. Show me a link to a single game where this happened, that a played is forced to place animals or microbes on their opponents cards.

Can't be bothered checking back for a link, but Yahyra is right. If it had been placing a city triggering the pets effect, then it would have been forced so the system would have done it automatically as I described.
