#22 - Solo Challenge [June 2024] ENDED

Post by montybojangles »

June's solo challenge is to play the Firaks and win against the automa of the month, the Xenos (select the 'Automa of the month' button), on the FIXED map. Check that the seed in the automa score panel is 17172432. It is important that you read the Rules section for more details, especially if the seed is not 17172432.

Whether you are a beginner or an expert, this challenge is for you. The goal is simple: have fun and get a high score in solo mode. Thanks to the BGA set-up, you can easily compare your score, watch replays of games and learn different ways of playing a faction. (There's more guidance on how to view replays at/near the end of the May 2023 challenge.) Play serenely at your leisure: there is no timer pressure!

Image

In May we had a new champion: Mallumän's advance up the AI track led to the 3vp/mine advanced tech and to the top of the leader board. Congratulations! Shout-outs to kespie, who also scored over 200, and everyone else who embraced the Lantids.

There's elite rank for the top 5 players with winning games and cadet rank for everyone else.

  • Mallumän 258 vs Automächtig 132 - https://boardgamearena.com/archive/repl ... s=85709525 - Started with PI+RL, used PI ability every round. First up in econ, then in sci. Did a little gaia as well, then went up in terra and navigation and spread mines. Tech points from 2 vp/research advance and 5vp/federation.
Image
  • Chessmaster_Hex 184 vs Automa 131 - https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=520249079 - went heavily for economy first, since I aimed for the early Special Tech (+2VP per Techstep) afterwards. Game says VP by Techs is 31, so I guess it netted me 24 VP.
Image

1st step: Create a new table. Select Training or Friendly mode and FIXED map. Choose 1 player/Solo and click on Start game. Select the red box Automa of the month (Xenos).
2nd step: Select the difficulty you think you can handle.
3rd step: Select the faction Firaks. Check that the seed is 17172432 (in the player score panel). If it isn't, start again using the alternative starting method (below).
4th step: Play the game. Post your score(s), mentioning the chosen difficulty (see the format below).

Alternative starting method: Start the game with FIXED map selected >> Choose the Xenos faction card (as you would for a normal game) >> Set the custom seed (17172432 for this challenge), which is next to the heading 'Choose Automa Difficulty Level', and Select the Automa difficulty >> Choose Firaks.

Players usually insert the link of their game (you can find it on your profile – tab (x) games played) and mention which openings, tech tracks and other actions have been crucial for them (e.g. RL+2M. Economy, aiming for advanced tech tile on AI).

Ideally, use this format: YourNickname Score vs AutomaLevel Score – LinkOfTheGame – Techs focus – YourComment (e.g.: Marcus Aurelius 222 vs Ultoma 165 – www.boardgamearena.com/game=12345 – focus on Science and Terraforming until mid-game, with aim of taking advanced tile on Terraforming).

And don't forget to have fun!

Hi everyone. We're back to the fixed map for this challenge. Here's a target score for you. It was a scramble to get the techs I was aiming for and achieving a third federation, but I'm pleased with the result.

montybojangles 191 vs Automa 131 - https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=519833254 - RL+TS+1m opening, PI round 2, advancing on economy then nav and terraforming. Two advanced techs.

Good luck!

Hello all!

Chessmaster_Hex 184 vs Automa 131 - https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=520249079

I startet center and top left, went heavily for economy first, since I aimed for the early Special Tech (+2VP per Techstep) afterwards. Game says VP by Techs is 31, so I guess it netted me 24 VP.
After getting economy to level 4 I went for gaia (which I might have pushed a little too late or a little too far - didnt give me much value) and navigation, which I might have overstepped with pushing it to level 5.
My last round was a waste, since I was struggling heavily to get the third alliance and in the end missed a vew ressources to either gain the step 5 on economy (for more shenenigangs), or the special tech on Gaia (for 12 extra VP).
So there should be a lot of optimisation possible, there will surely be lots of 200+ Scores from better players than me :D.

Greetings!

Hi all,

Month June 2024

Amek 216 vs Ultomat 162, https://boardgamearena.com/1/gaiaprojec ... =520599572
Tech focus: 1 TF for the ore, 2 economy, 2 nav, 2 science, 4 economy, 4 TF

My first time doing this challenge.
First round PI and Rl for the bonuspoints for TS (3X)
Little mistake in the last round, had to take 1 ore per sector to be able to build 3 feds. Top TF and then Advanced Tech 5 per fed for 20 points.
Ended TF 5, Nav 4, QIC 4, Gaia 3, Economy 4, Science 4.

Malluman 233 vs. Automächtig 132

Inspired by Amek, started the first round with PI + RI. Used the PI ability each round and tried to expand maximally after that. First up in econ, then terraforming and navigation. Later up in AI and Gaia as well (just for the points). Got the tech points from 5 VP per federation and 4 VP per TS.

Mallumän 245 vs. Automächtig 132

Squeezed a couple more points by going for 5 federations this time and skipping the PI ability one round, but otherwise a very similar strategy: started the first round with PI + RI. Used the PI ability each round (except 5) and tried to expand maximally after that. First up in econ, then terraforming and navigation. Later up in AI and Gaia as well (just for the points). Got the tech points from 5 VP per federation and 4 VP per TS.

Thank you for being the first to post. The 2vp/step scores well, and gaia seemed worth trying - unfortunately the automa hoovers them up.

Welcome to the challenge! I hope you enjoyed it. PI+RL in the first round is always nice to achieve.

Wow! I thought there could easily be a 235+ score given the selection of booster tiles, advanced techs and round bonuses (especially the TS ones) but didn't expect 5 feds. I suppose I should know better, after 20+ challenges. 47 for round bonuses is very high. Congratulations!

Score lists updated.

Here's my second try:
kespie 236 vs 132 Automachtig - https://boardgamearena.com/4/gaiaprojec ... =521107440 - RL+PI opening, Eco4 in round 2, Sci4 in round 3, advanced tech eco (2vp/research step) only then really starting to expand.

4+1 feds from Malluman is very nice with Firaks! Oh and your Lantids game was amazing, too, I would never have thought to advance on AI right away.

That's a very solid game, nice. Like me, you had to cover an 'active' tech tile (4 charge) with your advanced tech tile. I noticed that Mallumän got 137 charge, which is very high, probably a result of the earlier expansion. Thanks for posting!
