Threads about the random number generator pop up every couple of months, here's a recent one:
https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36306

That doesn't mean there's actually an issue with the random number generator. It means there's a user that needs to be educated about how the system works.

You are not representing some "silent majority" here. You are the only person in this thread that has a problem with the current system, which as you said is only an issue 0.0001% of the time. If you want to propose a "solution" you've been given the link to provide feedback on the site, and users can give it a thumbs up if they agree with you.

Main point is: you can't force people to be nice. There will always be a gap between what people must do and what would be nice. That's the whole point of why some action can be considered nice/friendly. It wouldn't be "nice", if they had to.

Probably many players here agree with you that there are some cases where skipping is not a nice thing to do. What we disagree with is that "not-so-nice" can be considered "unfair". And we disagree that something can or should be done about it.

And let's not forget that playing slow is also a not-so-nice thing to do. You say it's only 20sec, but please don't forget that using up all your time bank is perceived as too slow by many players who hope for a very fast game and would like to stay on full time bank most of the time.
The middle ground is: you have the right to use up your whole time bank and they should not complain about it while on the other hand if you go over, they have the right to skip you and you should not complain about it. No matter if last move and you've been winning. Just don't go over. If you do you can only hope for people be nicer than they have to.

Your point of view makes sense, your logic is flawless. Whatever you call it, I have absolutely no problem to admit it.

However, as many of the posts that do not agree with what i try to advocate (or dont want to understand, or simply dont understand because english is not my mother tongue and i cannot be as subtle and precise as when i speak french), the fact is that it implies every people here come to compete and that it excuses every behavior as long as "it is the rule". Sorry, but i do not agree.

Meanwhile, someone raised the possibility of automatic booting. I concur with him/her. Plus I dont understand why this proposal, that i consider may solve the problem i raised, does not get approval by all those who dub me a troll just because i express my opinion : this is one kind of the "holly rules" i should worship and shut up according to so many answers to my first post.

Thanks for your answer anyway, i appreciate the way it is written (I would call it "fair", but not sure it is the right word for what i want to express).

Just to be clear : You don't agree with an implication you have made up yourself and that you try to pass as a fact ?

There is competitors that will do anything to win, including expelling someone too slow.
But there is players that will be bored to wait some player to take 2 minutes to make a 15 seconds move, and so expelling him. Nothing competitive in that.

I don't call you a troll, because you express your opinion.
I call you a troll, because you want to know that it was unfair you were kicked out and think it would be simpler to change how the site works instead of just assuming his mistake and learn to play faster and/or select a time setting better suitted for him.

Automatic booting is stupid, because sometimes you don't want to boot someone out of time.
If someone warns me 'I'll have to take 5mn to take a call, brb, could you wait please.' Personally, I will, even in a 2mn countdown game, because that can happen. Of course if after 6 or 7 mn he is still not back, then it would be goodbye.
If I play against a friend of mine, I wouldn't want to kick him if he suddenly stop to play. I would text or call him to see if he has a problem on his side, and wait for him as long as needed.

Other than that, I'm not competitive, but against people like you. People that are too slow and think nonetheless they should be granted extra privilege because they are alive, and it's a fact that implie they are the center of the universe, and they agree with that. I kick them as soon as the counter reach -0:01, winning or losing.

Again, the fact that you are unable to manage your time, unable to select/create a game with a time corresponding to your play style. It's a problem on your side, not on BGA side.

Please translate in french, I dont understand what you mean here.

I agree with you on that point

No sir. A troll wants to harm. I do not.
Automatic booting is stupid, because sometimes you don't want to boot someone out of time.
If brutally enforced, it is effectively. But somewhere in the discussion I suggested that it could be a non default setting that one could choose if one wants. I understand you'll never do. Fine. I will probably use it sometimes : what difference does it make for you ?

That means you're a fair player (in my opinion) I would be pleased to play with. And so many players act the same that I was really upset by the player that kicked me out.

Let me know who you call "not too slow" if you boot someone at the very first second out of time. Especially if it is the first time in a game. Plus you don't know me, so what you said in the quote above is close to slander. Keep cool when you comment please.

Again, the fact that you are unable to manage your time, unable to select/create a game with a time corresponding to your play style. It's a problem on your side, not on BGA side.
Again, this is close to personal attack and does not add a comma to the discussion we have here. Please look to the very first post of the thread to understand exactly what blew me off. What I am calling for are not personal priviledges. I want to make sure that I will never meet a similar situation.

What i am calling for is not a complete redesign of the plat form. Just suggesting a slight modification in settings that would make things clear for all players around the table :
  • either we play mercyless including time limits : switch autobooting ON
  • either we will play calmly, and prior pressing the nuclear button to someone who is late, first warn that he/she may incure booting if he/she does not hurry up (just as you described) : switch autobooting OFF (default setting)
Is this nonsense ? Does it change anything for you ?

OK
Je ne suis pas sur que tu ais compris ce que tu as écrit non plus:
"(...) the fact is that it implies every people here come to compete and that it excuses every behavior as long as "it is the rule". Sorry, but i do not agree."

Nope, kiddo.
A troll does not want just to harm. He is also an attention seeker, attempting to proves the world he exists so he can stroke his ego.

I can't see the future.
Less than 0.8% of people here can. How should I know if I want to kick someone before the game starts (assuming I'm not playing with a friend.)
How should anyone 'not competitive' can know that in advance ?

You really are asking this question ? Like ... seriously, kiddo ??? I mean, not just for trolling but to get an answer ???
OK
'Not too slow' is someone able to manage the time limit of the game he plays to stay above zero or being able to finish his turn at least before the second countdown expels him.
'Not too slow' is what 95% of players are usually. With the remaining 5% either learns from their mistakes or throw a tantrum because they can assume their mistake and learn nothing.

No it doesn't add a comma to the discution, it's just say the discussion is pointless because the problem was you were unable to maage your time.
What blew you off was you weren't able to stay withing the time limit you accepted, and got expelled because of your mistake. Then you decided it was everyone's fault but yours.
(please correct me if wrong)

Yes it's nonsense. You are trolling because you felt bad after being expelled and you want to feel important.
When the 'nuke' is pressed, the player still have 30s to play and cancel the sanction.
So you already have what you want. GG ! Turn that frow upside down !

I'm fed up, I'll make a break there.

There is only one question that matters to me. I think the following update may improve everyone's experience on BGA platform : add an autoboot setting with two options
  • either we play mercyless including time limits : switch autobooting ON
  • either we will play calmly, and prior pressing the nuclear button to someone who is late, first warn that he/she may incure booting if he/she does not hurry up : switch autobooting OFF (default setting)
Please do not respond that I am mad, selfish, or any other kind of defect you may wish to stick on me : even if it were true, I don't care and it does not address the good question.

Thanks to stick to "YES", "NO", "YES BUT" or "NO BUT"

As has been pointed out to you several times now, this already happens. You get a 20 second warning before the booting actually occurs.

The suggestion for auto-booting exists somewhere, go vote for it.

If these two points are the end of your discussion, then do that and move on with your life. As has also been suggested to you, more than once.
