Other posts have been moderated in this thread before. It seems moderators keep an eye on the thread, but BGA staff ignores it most of the time. For some reason, making multiple unpopular changes to the site that users can't opt out of is the hill they have chosen to die on.

Well, you got noted by mods this time. If only BGA was as fast with the response to the many pleads here...

It would be easy to dismiss the latest moderation as a random dude going too far, but you need to understand that the lack of action and communication from BGA admins DESPITE explicit promises is extremely disappointing and disrespectful, and the source of a lot of frustration for many players, occasionally going overboard. I understand that the forum mods are just 'doing their job', but for BGA admins - you should very clearly see your own role in this situation.

No update. Tomorrow marks the half-year anniversary of this change, despite the responses nigh-universally hating it.

Playing on our platform can fit many players' expectations, from casual play and friendly games up to the most competitive way through limited ARENA seasons.
The best way to assess your experience and skill in each game is through the ELO system, which adjusts your ranking points after every non-friendly completed game.
ELO ranking allows to classify players in 7 distinct skills levels: Beginner (0 point), Apprentice (1-99 points), Average (100-199), Good (200-299), Strong (300-499), Expert (500-699), Master (700+).

Unfortunately, over time, we have identified several biases in this system that lead us to adjust it in several ways, keeping the focus on your game experience rather than ELO grinding.
In the past update, we already updated the ELO for cooperative games to prevent players from cancelling their game to prevent any ELO loss – you must concede the game instead. We now force`no time limit` games to be played in Friendly Mode only, as previously discussed at length.
We know that ELO is not only a tool to assess players’ skills compared to the whole community, but it is also used to rank players within a same group of regular players or friends, so it will be kept, with the following changes:

It has been half a year now since you posted these changes and they've been met with 90 pages of near universal negativity & constructive suggestions on how to resolve the problem.

A response to the actual concerns of the playerbase would be greatly appreciated.

I've just attempted to climb the ELO ladder via arena in a specific game this morning.
Just so happens another player is there as well and I kept matchmaking into them.
Unfortunately, as I've won 6 in a row vs them in the last (*checks notes*) 21 days. I won 3 straight, and gained nothing.
They are hard fought wins as well, since the opponent is pretty good and I struggled against him in the past.
I don't know how much more we need to say to get the changes reverted. I post once in a while when I'm affected and infuriated. I probably should've reached rank 1 ELO already if not for the powerleveling changes. (Lost at least 50~100 ELO to consecutive wins) Why are you punishing honest players instead of cheaters?
