And by terraform you mean putting tiles down rather than heat right? Because you can rarely do both at once. I tend to have the highest TR in most games but find the games I lose are to people putting down tiles and claiming milestones.

It's a tough balance. I can engine build with the best of them and I'm gaining rank from building better engines than people but I still lose to much to ground game and trying to develop my own which I think is important to reach the higher ranks.
Cities will just slow you down if you're trying to terraform fast. The two points per greenery is plenty

Quickest way for you to get guuud is follow this simple trick: buy only 4 or less cards from the start and only buy one card for the first three gens. Buy no cards on gen 6 & 9 and see you at the elo 400 club tomorrow.
Curious why 6 and 9? Also how do you calculate plant production in terms of value?

GAAP for plant prod on gen is worth around 15MC, a single plant is elastically valued between 2~3 MC, and that is why bois and gurls that we don't take those steel ocean rebates since any of the 2 plant ocean rebate worth far more. 69? You have to ask about 69? For noobs, anyone who is under 400, you buy too many cards by gen 6, so nothing on the offer worth any more of your MC, you are either playing with other noobs and having a 13 gen laughing fest OR the only chance you got is counting your good luck and monster start and finish the game off against a good player by limiting your chance of blunders. And games generally ends gen 8-10 just pick up your pay dirt and don't buy anything. Once you hit 400 with this template you will have a better grasp of the game, and can give yourself a little bit for freedom, because of course there is so much more. Try it and let me know if it worked for you.

Looking through some top ranked 2 person games and every game lasted 11-15 generations.
What would your advice be in that format?

If Terraforming hard you need the game to end in 10 gens max (without preludes) and 8 gens max (with preludes). If it goes any longer against engine science setup you'll probably lose.

Royal Rooks suggestion of being lean with cards is aimed at you terraforming quickly. If you buy too many cards that don't help to terraform then the game will go too long for you.

Thanks for the tips. I've gone from 200 > 330 ELO in a week since I've tried to be leaner on buying cards and terraforming aggressively.

I mostly play ground game now over science/engine unless the cards align for it.

Great work!!!! You make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, if you do this in 2p format most of >400 elo players will mostly have no chance against you. Happy Father's day.

Speaking of the magical land of 2p Corp Era TM once you have reached 400 elo do this:
Don't play any events unless you have media group and/or optimal aerobreaking
Hold ocean if possible for Arctic Algae.
Don't play any science card unless you have Mars University and/or Olympus Conference
Pass on Gen 1 without playing anything just so you may draw Earth Catapult, Research Outpost, and/or Earth Office.
Neverpass: Earth Catapult, Antigravity Technology, Advanced Alloy, AI Central and Nitrogen Rich Asteroid...like ever.

More to come once you reach 550.
