I just want to say something. if you are an impatient person do not join my table. I am the administrator and set the time to unlimited for a reason. I do it for games I'm learning for the first time.

Just to clarify, I'm not taking an unreasonable amount of time between turns. Turn time ranges from one to three minutes depending on the number of things I'm doing.

Why do these players agree to join an unlimited time game, and then have the audacity to complain?

Should I kick these players immediately?

I feel that people need to pay more attention to the settings. I would never join a fast speed game being new, and then complain about them going too quickly.

If they are repeatedly complaining in the chat that others are playing too slowly when they are within the time limits set for the table, you can report them. Pressuring people to play faster is not allowed, and even if they run over time, the opportunity is there to kick the out of time player, rather than complaining at them (though a polite, "Are you still there?" is reasonable).

I would also red thumb such players so they can't join your tables, or tables you are at (except in tournament settings). That's what the red thumb system is there for.

The more I play here and read the forums, the more I think the new lobby and auto-joining tables were a huge mistake.
With manual settings in the Play Now lobby you are basically forced to look at the table setup before joining. I used to put descriptions on my tables, for example telling players that I'm still learning and that it is going to be a slow game. Now descriptions are basically useless, because no one is going to read them ...-

Yes, if I recall correctly, a lot of players voiced concerns about the new lobby when it was introduced. At least in this case, both the old and new alternatives were available, but basically, the concerns fell on deaf ears and ultimately, BGA admin stopped responding until users stopped talking about it (because how long can you maintain a one-sided conversation). As time goes on, it feels like we find more problems with the new lobby and are frequently directing people to the old one to manage issues. I don't recall ever seeing anyone say a person can fix the issue they're having by using the new lobby (apart from page load times, which were basically the biggest incentive to introduce the new lobby).

But not forever. As someone who was posting regularly on the thread about rated matches without time limits (among friends only), I eventually did start forgetting to bump it. It's still something I would like to see changed back (and 400+ other people agree), since the reasoning for why it was changed doesn't quite make sense (and lack of responses leads me to believe there is no other well thought out reason, just cause it was decided so, much like the ELO changes).

I never thought about how silly this is. Why is "Are you still there" reasonable but "faster" or other similar comments about speed not and reportable? When someone hits the "are you still there" button they are saying "why haven't you taken your turn yet". It is the same thing.

I don't disagree with you, but I didn't make the rules. I do know that telling people to play faster is specifically mentioned in reportable chat examples. But there's a lot of ways to say the same thing where one way is polite and the other is not - I can tell a business I am unhappy with their service, or I can call them various names and repeatedly swear at them and threaten them with harm. Both indicate I am unhappy with their service, but typically one is considered acceptable and the other is not.

Because the sentence can show a real concern about the player being present, while the second is just an order. Basically, the possible intent is wider. If this further interests you, you may find some info in Austin, L. (1962). How to Do Things with Words. Oxford: Oxford University Press
