Supply, strategic movement, scenario

Post by Tisifoni »

Have I missed something that was there or have 'clues' in little blue writing appeared to indicate the provable supply solution ?

YAY !

Is strategic movement only possible by 'rail' ?
Can I ship more British forces to Egypt ?
Doing the North Africa scenario the BEF appear as a reinforcement, but can't be deployed in North Africa and can't be deployed in Britain. Game seems to seize up ? Also can't redeploy aircraft from Britain to North Africa or Malta; are they only in the scenario to interact with naval activity ?

Some scenario notes could clarify the limitations of the scenario

Rail and road.

Yes, with a convoy.

Haven't seen that issue before. Unless otherwise noted in the playbook (download it from GMT's site), units have to mobilize in their home country. Was there already a unit in the city, or did you have 2 supply points left to mobilize it?

They aren't able to fly directly and have to be convoyed over.

Yes, the BEF, which I suspect shouldn't be in the scenario*:

can't be deployed in N Africa; must be deployed in deployed in home country message
can't be deployed in Britain; breaks policy message

Afrika Korps similaly:

can't be deployed in N Africa or Italy; must be deployed in home country message
can't be deployed in Germany; breaks policy message

*perhaps some provision to reinforce, but not the BEF

So, in the playbook, there are actually restricted deployment locations.

So, Britain can only deploy in Plymouth, and Germany can only deploy in Genoa or Venice.

Ah, thank you !

Have had a look at the 1944 - 45 Scenario today. US reinforcements deploy to the North American coast box and I haven't so far worked out how they deploy across the Atlantic.

Yea, the US units have to be convoyed over after they're mobilized.

Ah, do I have to move convoys over there ?
How quickly can they transit; Atlantic crossing was days not weeks.

It is not explained very well in the rules book.

Yes, you have to move the convoys there first. Naval transporting a unit takes its entire activation for the turn.
